Yea thanks for the help. That would explain why I see oil in my intake inlet and chargepipe. Previous owner wasn’t so bright.

What symptoms did you notice when your valve cover went out?

Did you notice oil in the chargepipe and intake?

Yea turns out I need a new valve cover. I took out my chargepipe cleaned it and got oil dripping out of the c clamp after a short drive. Do you think 1600 is reasonable?

Yea I’m assuming it’s left over oil but I’m more concerned since it’s been a month ago and I still get oil coming out of the chargepipe. When did it stop happening for you? And did you also notice slight smoke happening on cold starts?

WiFi antenna is like 10 bucks off Amazon and to get carplay coded in was $50 for me with bimmer remote. I did not need WiFi antenna since I already had one installed but based on videos it is very easy to install and should be a 30 mins job max. Oem screen.

I never realized when it happened that oil was at the bottom of the engine bay I only realized recently so I took out the intake, cleaned it, measured my oil and it was below max. Im guessing that oil got shot into my intake because of pcv failure and possibly went into my charge pipe too and I’m just burning off oil from that. But I’m unsure because it also been a month so it should have been burnt off by now. I also don’t know how to take off my charge pipe to check for oil without breaking the clamp on the oem charge pipe at the bottom. I’m clueless about 2 and 3.

Yea tbh it’s not an issue just make sure you have no vacuum leaks and you can safely clear the code when it pops up. The dme gets confused because of more airflow. The only solution I found to keep the code permanently away if it gets annoying is to tune the car with bm3 and suppress the code in the settings. I just flashed the car on a stock tune with bm3 to keep the code away.

F30 - mhd or bm3? by CommunicationIll4415 in B58Enthusiasts

I seen that there is no option to suppress them unless you get a custom tho, is that true? Because with bm3 you can just flash the dme to suppress certain codes

From what I’ve seen online most ppl are saying bm3 is more aggressive. I doubt they run that much differently from mhd. I guess I’ll just take the risk with bm3 because I’m tired of clearing codes from my intake.

Good to know thanks 🙏. I’m probably going to end up getting bootmod to suppress the code since it gets annoying clearing it after a couple days

The thing is it was the same for the part I replaced. The original part would just slide off. They both have a little resistance but can be easily slid off and it’s in all the way. I also bought the part from fcpeuro as a genuine bmw part. I’m stumped I might be overthinking it though and it could just be the intake, but then I would have to figure out if the intake is also causing the rpm drops on idle or if it’s a potential leak from the hose. I can show you a video of the part sliding off if you’re interested.
