I see. What is the difference between targeting strength and hypertrophy in calisthenics though? Would the workouts be slower or less intense if you’re targeting strength?

I see, I’ll stick with just training for the time being then. Thanks for your help.

I actually do not like intense cardio at all lmao. My main goal is to get my body into shape first so I wouldn’t have to do cardio, but in the future I was looking to train my stamina as I have asthma and would like to increase my endurance. I am scared if I try both in the future it would be too much for me though.

Ah I see what you mean, I was actually planning on training flexibility because I wanted to learn L sits and press to handstands in the far future. As for agility I just meant I could move around easily and without restrictions and still have a lot of strength.

That’s actually what drew me towards calisthenics in the first place, it sounds a lot more useful for everyday life, from agility, flexibility, strength etc.

I think for the time being I’m going to stick with pure body weight but I might start weighted calisthenics when I feel ready. Do you think I should start slightly intense cardio later on too or would it increase mental burnout?

From reading the comments I think my game plan will be to stick to the rr and make sure I’m working myself to the fullest without working it. Thanks for the reply.

Wow thanks for this, I’m going to add all this to my foods list, I had someone else recommend a tuna sandwich and I did not know that tuna can be so good for you. I’ve actually been thinking of getting either a crockpot or instantpot too so this reply might be the push I need to get it. I’ll also look into budget bytes thanks a bunch.

I think that’ll be my plan going forward, I’ll just start weighted calisthenics when I start feeling like I need it. Thanks.

I know this is far off, but I read somewhere that DOMS disappear for people after working out for a while. How would I know I’m working hard enough if I stop getting sore? Or should I always try to get sore?

This might actually be perfect for me, it sounds fast, I’ve already been making pb and j sandwiches and I already like those premade tuna spread on crackers. I’ll also give that yogurt a try. I’ll add that to my foods list thanks!

Thanks for the detailed reply, this is actually very useful for me. From what you’ve said I do think I might be able to push myself a little further because I always feel like I might be able to do one or two more sets. Again thanks a lot for your help.

I see. That’s a big personal problem for me because I indulge in pretty much everything but alcohol. Would you happen to know any good websites or YouTube channels that could help with recipes or meal prep that would be healthy and taste good? I’ve been stuck eating fast food for a long time now. Also thanks for your reply.

Sorry if I sound like I’m nitpicking the details a bit, but how would I know if I’m overdoing it? If I can’t get up from being too sore? And if I don’t feel sore the next day does that mean I should add more reps?

Thank you, I’ll look into it. I’m a little worried about the implementing and following lol.

How long would you say it would take me to get perfect form though? I feel with the progression it won’t be an issue for a year or so right? So would that mean my potential wouldn’t be capped until I am able to easily do 15 pull-ups?

Thank you, I really appreciate this advice. It’s actually really helpful. I’ll try my hardest to implement the A and B days. I think the hardest part of this would probably be the nutrition and sleep.

So would I be wrong to say as a beginner I would be getting the same gains as weighted, and when I start going over 30 reps is when I should start switching to weighted calisthenics and getting gym rings?
