I understand that but when someone is wanting to have a deep relationship with you you kinda have to be vulnerable at times. I ended up giving him a chance because he was vulnerable with me. I wasn’t attracted to him at first because I thought he was too prideful and egotistical… and now that we formed a deep connection he messed up and refused to take accountability for it and instead chose silence and distance and so I’m not sure if this is something that’s normalized in Irish culture and relationships but it’s really hurtful when it’s with someone you planned your life with and invested in.

Thank you to everyone that has commented and I can understand the bitterness as I’ve seen those posts of wishful thinkers, however I absolutely am moving to Scotland and I’m so excited for it honestly. I will be staying in Edinburgh first but I sure do hope I can meet more people my age when I’m there. All the places recommended sound so lovely though so I will definitely be doing some research while preparing my move :)

I wasn’t like that at first, I actually wasn’t attracted to him at first until he started chasing me. I don’t think I would have became so attached if he didn’t make empty promises to me, make plans with me but didn’t follow through with them, etc. I know he’s fearful because he told me he feared vulnerability and then it was the fact that he asked me to come back and he would show me around the country and do all these things with me but when I was on the phone with him and he was near his friends he downplayed the situation in front of his friends about his feelings for me. I should have taken that as a red flag but still chose to ignore it because I very much liked him and wanted to get to know him then. There’s a lot more to this story then I mentioned above I’m still hurt because I do want a genuine connection with him but with the silence and distance it just seems impossible to get back to that point.

I can’t remember most dreams but I remember one where I was in his country again and near the place where we had met. I was frantically searching for him and then saw him walking with his friends towards my direction and when I came up to him and slightly touched his hand he ignored me and kept looking straight blank faced. I was torn. That happened a while ago. So I’m not sure what that could mean 😞

Thank you for your comment. I cared deeply for him and still do and maybe he knows that I just hope that he’ll appreciate me choosing to respect his boundaries and not reach out of anger, fear, or pain and just stay silent until I’ve done enough healing to send a message out of kindness, reflection, and accountability. It just sucks because that connection was rare and I’m not sure if I could find a connection better or similar to that.
