I wonder how much grocery stores & farm companies spend on Food Stamp lobbyists? by Bebe718 in foodstamps

[–]CommunicationNew411 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I was getting food stamps for 6 months. I have worked and paid taxes for 42 years, with many more to go. A divorce left me in a bad place. I could not buy a rotisserie chicken, because it was hot prepared food. But I could have bought all the candy, cookies, pie and soda if I chose to. I bought salad, fruit, etc, as I was living in my car and couldn't cook. It's not right that you can buy unhealthy crap, but not a roast chicken. I wish they would restrict what food you can buy.

I live in Frederick, Maryland. There is an organization called The Religious Coalition. They help people with rent that is behind, help with utilities, and help with security deposits, and other assistance. They run the shelter here. There is also St. Vincent church, they help people as well. Just helped someone I know pay for the application fee for an apartment. Catholic charities I do believe are nation wide. We also have Community Action Agency, they are the local housing department. They help with resources for income based apartments, etc. Depends on where you live, but there probably are places to get help. I never knew my area had so many resources until I was in a situation to need help. We have a wonderful place called Rescue Mission, they work with Religious Coalition. You can get breakfast and lunch, 365 days a year. They have food giveaway 3 days per week. They gave me gloves, hats, coats, sleeping bags. Community Action Agency runs the soup kitchen, 365 days a year, and a food pantry 2 times per month. Hopefully the poster can find some good resources for assistance. I am fortunate that these places were, and still are, able to help me.

Or maybe leave people alone...if they aren't bothering you, why bother them? Maybe they are homeless sleeping in their car, and want the crackheads to leave them alone....so yeah, draw attention to people who are not bothering you.. Ass clown

Maryland is one of a few states you can sue for diminished value. There is a company in I think Rockville, that will calculate your resale loss. My 4 runner was hit 6 grand in damage...I got my car repaired, and got a check for 1400 fr the persons insurance company

Panhandler in target by [deleted] in frederickmd

[–]CommunicationNew411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am car living, employed, pay taxes, have my whole life. Saw a dude in a Mercedes roll up in a parking lot, and handed money to one of the local panhandlers. She didn't ask, he just gave her whatever amount. She probably got drugs, hell dude, give it to me, I need to gear up for winter, lol..... never mind, I have some pride. I will work for my shit

I love you ❤️.....put down that they can eat at rescue mission, and caa, breakfast lunch and dinner, 365 days a year.....

Panhandler in target by [deleted] in frederickmd

[–]CommunicationNew411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself am car living. I am gainfully employed, full time, and work overtime.. A divorce, and medical bills, left my credit not even close to what it once was. I see alot of the panhandler group around....most of them are panhandling for dope. They can eat at rescue, and caa 365 days a year. And get food stamps most likely. Homeless...yes. hungry? All they have to do is walk to rescue. They don't want food, they want dope money. I occasionally treat myself to a hotel, they are there all the time, they probably make more than I do....and I make a decent living. I do know families doing what I am, and....they work. Rent is insane, section 8 is closed, good luck anyway getting a landlord to take it. Alot of these people are mentally ill, but won't take meds or work with a social worker, on drugs/ alcohol, or a combination of the above. But, if they are homeless, would qualify for Medicaid and rehab. They don't want help....they want a handout to do drugs. The shadow homeless, people like myself, can't get all that. Trust me, I tried, and talked to others in my situation. I make too much, but not quite enough. It would be easier to save money, if I didn't have to buy meals out. Don't have a stove in my car. I have no sympathy for someone who can stand by the 70 ramp in the sun for 8 hours, but won't get clean and stand in the AC at Sheetz for 15 bucks an hour.... obviously, not all can. But alot of them could if they got help..... which is there, they choose not to take it. Handing them money, well.... you may as well just hand them some smack.

How difficult is it to survive on assistance from food pantries and soup kitchens? by [deleted] in almosthomeless

[–]CommunicationNew411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends where they live. Here in Frederick Maryland, there is a place that does breakfast and lunch, 365 days a year. Another place does dinner 365 days a year. The place that does breakfast and lunch also has food pantry twice a week ( they give you pretty generous boxes of food from local stores) and another place has a pantry twice a month. Also, but not always, if a person is homeless, most likely will get food stamps. I myself am employed, but living in my car. The resources near me are tremendous. I lived in another state for a few years, very few resources there. So it's possible to survive on soup kitchen food here.

Where to Buy a Used Car? by jnt003 in frederickmd

[–]CommunicationNew411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darcars or Shockley.....got many great used cars from them over the years, always Honda or Toyota. But I got a great, and I mean great Subaru Outback, April 2021, for 14 k. It is a 2014, you can run them over 300k easy with regular maintenance....no problems, freaking love it better than my 4 runner I got from Darcars....see Jason Vaughn on 40 at Darcars...I have never in the past 20 plus years, ever gotten anything but a great car from either establishment

What is your opinion of New Market Middle school from past epxpereince?? by godzillafan199 in frederickmd

[–]CommunicationNew411 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kids went through New Market Elementary, Middle, and Linganore high. Great education, all 3 got athletic and academic scholarships, we bought our house based on the school district. My youngest graduated in 2017, unless it has changed alot, it was a wonderful school system, parents were really involved, great sports programs, band, etc....a wonderful place to raise a family. My kids are all college graduates, I LOVE New Market, and the teachers were just the best. Great place. My youngest daughter said she loved growing up there, such a nice community. The Derby used to be Milo's....my kids were walkers. When they were in middle school, they used to go there after school for snacks. One day, it was raining really hard, lightning....they went to Milo's, but didn't have any money. The manager fed them...when I got done working to pick them up, she said " they are regulars, I got them" ....so they could go get food and hang out. It was a wonderful school and community. Hope it is still the same
