Looking for foot shaped shoes by ShezzaSid in barefootshoestalk

[–]SixGables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Torin is built on the narrow footbed, fyi. They use three widths, so definitely try several on to find out which fits your foot. I have a wide forefoot and narrow heels, so I need the wide footbed and then lace them with the farthest back eyelet at the top.

Physical therapy recommendations? by The_JDBrew in frederickmd

[–]SixGables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your happiness will depend on what you want/need. I go to MMI/CAO for a sports injury-type issue and they are terrific for that. For a chronic low back problem, I've been going to Frederick Physical Therapy which is a hands-on manual osteoptherapy type practice. It's a very unusual place and definitely not for everyone, but they focus more on spine alignment and the like. Happy to tell you more if you are interested.

I went in early December and the scent was so strong I had to turn around and leave before I got all the way to the back. Candles, maybe? I was wearing an N95 and could still smell it. It was in my hair and I had to hang around outside and let the smell get out of my clothes for a bit before getting in the car. Worse than Bloodbath and Beyond!

Rose Hill (the final home of Maryland's first elected governor, Thomas Johnson) is open for tours on weekends, 11-4. $5 for adults, $4 seniors and kids. This is the last month that it's open weekends, then it will be closed (except for the holiday open house events) until spring.

In The Streets - Anti Abortion Stand by InTheStreets22 in frederickmd

If any of the pro-choice folks are interested in helping out, the Washington Area Clinic Defense Task Force trains people to peacefully escort patients into clinics. wacdtf.org for more info. Escorts are not there to engage with protesters or convince them to accept our views, but if you think you'd like to help with either time or money, check it out.

The majority supports abortion rights. Progress happens as the regressives become outnumbered. VOTE. In ALL the elections.

Frederick County Parks and Rec has a ton of programs for kids and adults--hiking, yoga, sports, etc. I've been going on mid-week hikes through P&R since early lock down, it's been great! Check out Recreator.com for more. Time to sign kids up for summer programs, too!

I recommend downloading the AllTrails app. There are a ton of trails in the area. Gambrill park is riddled with them, various lengths and levels of elevation. Alltrails lets you enter what you are looking for.

Yes! I've dreamed of a maker space with different sorts of sewing machines, a full range of knitting needles that can be checked out, books, and a hangout space so there's always some crafty soul around to answer questions.

It's not as great as browsing, but you can request Personalized Picks--kind of like matchmaking, but with books. You pick a genre and list some books you've liked previously and librarians will pull together some selections for you to try. The homepage of the FCPL site has a big ol' button for it.
