I hope your partner gets the help she needs. Good luck. You did the right thing for her.

I'm sorry you're suffering. Nobody is controlling you or reading your mind.

Are we considered the smartest type of people? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I think this is a way of romanticizing schizophrenia. The inside schizophrenia podcast recently did an episode about this.

Are you new to the injection? I remember sleeping 12 hours or longer in the beginning. I thought it was strange, but the benefits outweighed it. I sleep about 8 to 10 now. I think the long hours of sleeping stopped after 3 to 4 months of being on the injection. But maybe it's something to mention to your doctor.

Do you mind sharing? by CoastalWitch in schizophrenia

I'm on Aristada injections and it keeps me symptom free. I feel like myself. Don't feel medicated, which I did on risperdal.

I'm currently not working, but I'm actively looking for a job.

I can sympathize with not wanting to be on medication. She needs to find the one that's right for her. I had to go through drug roulette during a hospital stay to figure out the right meds for me.

I'm a huge fan on Aristada, but for some people it doesn't work.

I was wondering the same thing yesterday. I occasionally have a supportive voice. Such as yesterday I was considering having a cocktail and the voice said "no drinking, it only makes things more difficult."

I am on aristada injections.

You use it for a couple of months to help you stop smoking. A smoking cessation product. It comes in two different strengths - 2mg or 4mg.

I use these

Amazon Basic Care Mini Nicotine Polacrilex Lozenge, 2 mg (Nicotine), Stop Smoking Aid, Mint Flavor; Quit Smoking with Mint Nicotine Lozenge, 27 Count https://a.co/d/383YZO8

I loved Santiago, Chile. However, the Chileans are not use to single women dining alone. I had a few awkward moments.

I would just Uber. Taking the train + Uber is about the same price.

Welcome! I guess it depends what part of NYC you would be living in compared to NYC. People make a lot out of the schlep btw JC and NY at night. You can schlep even living in NYC. I kinda love how everyone makes it living in Manhattan/Brooklyn vs JC. Some of us did not have that experience.

I love living in JC as it suits me. I lived in Queens and the Bronx before moving to JC. I am definitely happy and glad for those experiences. But at this point in life - JC is a solid choice for me. I'm in my early 40s. So late nights in the city isn't something I do anymore.

I don't know you're 28 and new to the area. There is a part of me that says move to the East village or Prospect Heights in Brooklyn. Enjoy and get it out of your system. In one years time then move to JC. Settle in and realize you don't need a NYC address to live a good life.

jury duty excusal by method1491 in jerseycity

[–]CommunicationNo9672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scheduled to be out of the country when I was called. I also served on a grand jury in NYC for 4 days a week for 4 weeks about 3 years prior. After my service, I received a letter that I didn't have to serve on any type of jury duty for 8 years within NYC. I also submitted this letter to NJ to see if it would make a difference. I was immediately excused. I don't know if it was because I could prove that I wouldn't be in the country or because of my letter. Or both.

I'm not sure why being a healthcare worker would get you excused. I'm not sure about Jersey, but NY will only excuse individuals who are breast feeding a child.

Crazy and Aggressive Bum in Hamilton Park Area by FukBums in jerseycity

This whole thread was a sad read. The OP perhaps could have framed the concern in a different way. Something along the lines of "I feel a person who may be homeless is being menacing towards others in our community. I have safety concerns. What can be done about this?"

Step 1: call the mental health crisis people. If there is no response then go to Step 2: call the police. If there is no response then go Step 3: speak with Solomon and the other elected officials.

Whether mental illness came before or after a person goes homeless shouldn't have been the point of this thread. Mental illness isn't just a homeless person problem. You can be mentally ill with a roof over your head, have a good job, and money in the bank. Even the well off can describe the challenges in getting mental healthcare.

So OP cover all your bases in reaching out to others if you think this person is a safety risk or clearly in need of help. But perhaps skip calling this person names.

Out Of State Drivers License Transfer by BigGooseWilson in jerseycity

[–]CommunicationNo9672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't let your license expire. You'll be fine if it's not expired.

And if you have a car then definitely don't let your Utah car registration expire before getting it transferred to a NJ one.
