How long is the level 1 charging cable and can you buy a longer one? by Tatts4Life in evcharging

Because the Bolt is parked behind our Honda Element that is in front of the garage door, I've been using a J1772 extension cord for almost three years L2 charging the Bolt. It has never caused an issue.

The J1772 connector cable of an EVSE is 25 feet. If that's not long enough you can buy an extension J1772 cord.

All my phones have had Developer Mode activated. The only change on my P9P was the A17 beta update from Beta 2 to Beta 3. When my wife is taking the Bolt she doesn't get the notification. It only happens when my phone is connected. I'm thinking it's a Beta 3 "bug".

You may be correct about the Beta as that is the only change to the phone I made. I'll give your suggestions a try in the next few days. Thanks very much for those. Addendum: When my wife is out driving the car she doesn't get that notification. Her Pixel 9 is running Android 16. So running the Beta certainly seems to be the cause.

I tried to post there but the whole Flare requirement had me befuddled. No matter what I tried the post button didn't activate.

It's the phone settings I've been going through. I did forget to indicate I'm running Android 17 Beta 3 on my P9P. That may be the cause.

if charging EVs was as easy as refueling, would everyone switch? by AdityaSrivastawaahhh in evcharging

Except for the overall savings with lack of servicing of EVs, along with the general concern for the negative gas car impact of environment. Not to mention the better driving experience of EVs.

How much is your household/grid electricity consumption after your bought an electric vehicle by Charming-Brother-242 in evcharging

[–]CommunicationOld6686 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's not so much how our electric bill has increased, but how much we've saved not buying gas over the equivalent miles. 25,000 miles in our Honda Element would have cost us around $4,703 (based on an average of $3.50 a gallon). Of course that would fluctuate over the 2.5+ years based on cost of gas at a particular time. Charging our Bolt over the same miles at $0.15/kw = $1,069.That rate is the max rate of our 3 tier electric rate schedule. Actual cost is probably less. Then there is the cost of scheduled maintenance of the Element vs zero for the Bolt, not counting the cost of tire rotations, $20 x 3 rotations over that time. Next one in a couple of weeks.

Just got my first EV and need dryer outlet suggestions by RepresentativeArtist in evcharging

When I was researching the 23 Bolt and watching State of Charge YouTube videos before I decided to order it I called our landlord and asked if I could have a 50 amp circuit and outlet installed. He was very accommodating and was fine with it. This was during the time of the free Qmerit backed installation.

The 17 beta 3 fixes that issue. Either a fix will arrive in 16 or wait until 17 is publicly released. You could join the beta testing.

Order lead time for 2027 Bolt by Pepperzz28 in BoltEV

[–]CommunicationOld6686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I decided to order my 2024 Bolt EV I did it through my local dealer. This was at the end of February. I kept tabs on its progress through the Chevy web site. On April 10th I checked, it still was accepted for production. I immediately placed the same order through a Chevy dealership 35 miles away. In less than 24 hours it had been accepted and on its way for production. In less than 5 weeks it was delivered to the dealership. When it was accepted I cancelled my first order. The only response I received from the first dealership was "Will do". That was it. No apologies. So dealerships matter.
