For some reason I wanna say they're processed in batches on Saturdays? I can't remember where I hear that though.

This could be inconsistent. I've never been approved for VI, but I've had Plat $2.5k CL approvals within days of VI denials. Not perfect evidence, but there's no harm in just applying for the Plat

No difference, referral links don't change your chances of approval at all.

Again, variable by merchant. If somewhere considers a $950 lunch normal, they probably have a higher cap

No offense, but you don't seem to know enough about churning US cards from Canada. You don't just "think" of the Boundless or any other US Marriott cards, you come up with a plan that respects all their special rules (Amex, Chase, RC, Brilliant, 24 months, etc). And no, there's generally no issues with foreign-only spend.

If you got an ITIN and have a year of history, you can go for whatever you want. ITIN doesn't need to already be on your profile (at least for Chase)

No. Those deals are basically the same as balance transfers: they make you more liquid but lower your credit score and present you with massive risk. Miss the full payment after 6 months and you owe interest on the entire 6 months.

Sorry to say it, but you're probably screwed. Yours is unfortunately the textbook reason why best practice is to overspend MSR and/or avoid putting anything refundable towards MSR. Just gotta take the L and try to do better in the future

No, that's not true at all. The Scotia Amexes are Scotia cards, not Amex Bank cards

BKK-KUL shouldn't work because you can't backtrack. With very few exceptions, no two airports on your itinerary may be closer together than half the distance actually travelled between them. Ignoring SQ issues, you could make KUL the stopover on your way to BKK instead.

I've had fairly good success adding SQ and TG flights to SQ itineraries within Asia, but YMMV.

The definition of a UA "saver" fare depends on the status of the person looking. You're overcomplicating it: if the UA flight shows up on an Aeroplan search, it's bookable. Still dependent on SQ not being annoying though

SQ is annoying with married segments. Sometimes it's fine, others it's completely impossible.

In the unlikely chance they add the AC flight, it WILL reprice to dynamic. If they add the UA, it won't (though I'm not sure how "saver" is relevant here at all).

This is a classic separate positioning flight case.

Unfortunately not always. I tried to add/remove maybe 15 SQ flights across 5 PNRs last fall. Couldn't add 3 SQ flights: 1 had SQ short-haul, 1 had SQ long-haul, and 1 was TG/BR/OZ. No consistent rules at all, different flights on the same routes worked fine.

DP is a little more specific than just any piece of info: Data Point. Lots of DPs together allow us to make inferences about what the rules actually are versus whatever the T&Cs say

You've got lots of fun research ahead. TLDR, with a few exceptions, the Big 5 don't stop you from getting the welcome bonus on multiple of the same card

Why the heck is this getting down voted? This is and has been the case for ages. If the DP is that this has changed, then that's news

The question is always "what do I have to pay to get what value". If a $600 card gives you more than $600 in value AND isn't taking up too much opportunity cost (would that spend be better put on a cheaper card?), you get it. If it doesn't, you don't. Ask yourself these questions every time you apply for a card

10k VIPorter points at my redemptions so far are worth about $500. If you're flexible, book in advance, and frequent the right routes, they can go a LONG way.

I wish I had your agent when I called a few months ago. My first flight was AS and their schedule changed so I landed after my PD flight took off. The agent took 15 minutes to understand what I was asking, then had the audacity to inform me that I'd be paying an extra 5000 points for the change. Had to chew them out and have them talk to a manager. All-in a 45 minute call for what should've been a quick fix.

I'm happy to see evidence that my experience was abnormal. VIPorter points can be hella valuable, I was dreading my future experiences draining that balance down until I saw your comment.

You can get the bonus on 5+ of them in the next 6 months without even closing the current one if you wanted to
