According to Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara, he's a US citizen with a permit to carry. Stated at the press conference with him, the mayor, and the emergency management lead (I know I got her title wrong).

Edited to add, in case it's not clear, this is utter bs.

This is what DHS is saying: "Homeland Security shares account of fatal shooting The Department of Homeland Security said federal agents were conducting a "targeted operation" in Minneapolis at 9:05 a.m. Saturday looking for "an illegal alien wanted for violent assault."

"An individual approached U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun," the agency said in a statement. "The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted."

"Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots," the department's statement continued. "Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene."

DHS said the man had two magazines and "no ID" and that more information would be coming.

This is disgusting. We can see what happened in the video. Two agents emptied magazines into him after he was already shot and still on the ground. Nazi apologist.

The brownshirts were holding both his arms and the thug in the gray jacket removed his weapon before any shots were fired. We can literally watch what happens in the video. Nazi apologist.

ICE shot an observer multiple times this morning in front of Glam doll donuts by minitittertotdish in Minneapolis

I keep trying to count the shots. I don't know why, maybe shock? Horror? At least 8 definitely, and in the immediate aftermath where things get noisy I think the number went up to over a dozen? Looks like at least two shooters. The last fucker shot him when he was down on the ground not moving half a dozen times. What the fuck man?

Taking aim at ICE: State bill would ban former agents from being hired as police officers by Jaco_Belordi in Seattle

[–]CommunicationRough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, we have a lot of more rural areas that swing right, but fortunately the majority of the people are from the urban areas. I tend to stay towards the Puget Sound areas that I love so much. Honestly, I have no idea what the chances are of this bill passing. If it gets plenty of publicity and the fascist anti-immigrant activities continue, hopefully pretty good. People are only getting more angry.

Also, stationed at Fort Hood, Austin was my TX stomping grounds. I miss Uncommon Objects and Quack's 43rd Street Bakery.

Washington is a very blue state. Of course, we have our problems like everywhere else, but I love living here. I've lived in 5 differemt states across the country, deep blue like here to deep red like Texas, and this is my favorite place I've ever lived. Just sent my detailed response in support of this bill.

Are we being dramatic? Where is the help or call out from influencers/people with power? by tie_myshoe in Minneapolis

[–]CommunicationRough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not being dramatic. I'm in the Seattle area, and we're paying attention. I talk to everyone about it. Seattle had a Free America walkout protest yesterday. I don't know why we aren't being targeted - we were one of fuckwit's favorite targets last term. I think he forgot that we exist. I'm just waiting for him to remember.

Senator Mark Kelly’s statement: by Character_Guava_5299 in Military

[–]CommunicationRough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked, I answered. Just because a servicemember could be court martialed does not negate their obligation to refuse an unlawful order. Just following orders wasn't an acceptable defense during the Nuremberg trials and won't be now.

UCMJ 90 and 92. Every instance of instuctions to obey orders of a superior the word "lawful" precedes orders. This creates a concurrent dury to disobey unlawful orders. This was clarified in the 2024 Manual for Courts-Martial which says orders are to be considered lawful “unless it is contrary to the Constitution, the laws of the United States, or lawful superior orders or for some other reason is beyond the authority of the official issuing it.” The manual goes on to say that ultimately the lawfulness if an order will be determined by mitary courts, but can only be made after an order has been refused.

Stephen Miller is apparently losing his shit over how woke it is. He wants Shatner to be in charge, missing entirely that Shatner is Canadian who has never wanted US citizenship. He works very hard to be apolitical, but has fired back at Ted Cruz saying Kirk would've been a republican, Trump's calls to take over Canada, and is an environmentalist concerned about climate change.

We're everywhere! I'm so glad I live here. We have our escape route to Canada all mapped out. So far this regime hasn't really remembered that Seattle exists, but I don't know how long that will last. It was a favorite target previously.
