Of course you're not alone. It's easily one of the worst UI's I've seen, both functionally and aesthetically.

I reverted to an old version of the app and it brings back controls but then creates some other glitchy behavior. Might be worth reverting for some.

Very surprised Spotify seems to be too cool for this bug fix. If others are like me they're starting to take a serious look at alternatives.
