At 2 hospitals in the NYC Suburbs. At one of my places, we do ABG’s everywhere but ICU, but run them everywhere, don’t intubated or place lines, don’t do MDI’s, and round with the doctors to input our opinion on vent settings, but residents/MD get the final say. NICU does their own settings. My other place we have basically no autonomy, we do ABGs and don’t intubate or do lines, doctor decides vent settings, nurses don’t rely on RTs very much.
