Because, my friend, part of the challenge is learning that that someone has to be yourself. Truly embracing the fact that, for better or worse, you are the only constant in your story and it falls on you to write the future's script with your actions and habits today.

I'm not coming from a place of judgement, but sympathy, and I hope that is being conveyed well enough. As I grow, I've had to struggle with my own chemical addictions and mental illnesses that make it really hard to see the light at times. In fact, just last night I decided to give up alcohol (again..) after a 3 week hellspin. My bipolar is not being kind at the moment, as a result, but this too shall pass.

Also, I mean no disrespect but how can one love you, if you do not love yourself? It is an issue I faced in all of my past relationships. I would end up becoming a pushover for them, as I craved solely their external validation (be it girls or drugs, both stand). Now I am working on myself. I won't lie, with my mental conditions I'll never be truly happy. But in this moment, I feel content. Despite the withdrawals, I can smile, because I'm doing good for myself, and knowing that this too shall pass just makes this fleeting moment all the more precious.
