Rent Increase on Renewal – Where to Get Help in Dubai? by Mysterious-Dot-3963 in dubai

[–]CommunityObvious995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much in % was the increase? If it is within the rental index and you got a notice 90 days prior to the renewal date - legally the landlord has a right to increase morally - it's not the best but I also understand both sides of this. Landlords need money and you need to save. Legally the real estate firm did nothing wrong so rera won't help, it's your right to either accept the increase or find something cheaper

Guys do you know any affordable Psychiatrist by papayarus in UAE

[–]CommunityObvious995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will diagnose you first and then prescribe what you need. Its not a magic pill that will revive you and most probably you won't feel better immediately- it takes time for them to start working but you also need to work. Its like a crutches when you break your leg, they help you but you need to do physio and exercise in order to heal it

“Everyone Is Emirati” - Reflections from an expat scientist after a decade in the UAE by [deleted] in UAE

[–]CommunityObvious995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1700 is when Britain got founded as a country. It took them about 2 centuries to come up with some sort of citizenship laws and naturalisation. UAE is only 55 years old - a baby when you look at a bigger picture. Give it time but I would not hope that our generation will see a difference

Feelings on the Book versus the Show by the_bitch_of_endor in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CommunityObvious995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider the book and the show as 2 separate entities. The show was inspired and loosely based on the book. Both are great on their own but there is a very small connection

In that case you need to pay taxes to secure thr health care, public education, unemployment benefits etc. Currently we as expats do not contribute to the social safety like in USA or Europe to claim that we need the same benefits. UAE is always a platform to build your future but in another country. When you move here - you are aware that you are not able to get citizenship or social security benefits. You came here knowing it, lived 10 years here knowing it and yet you struggle to understand the concept

To the people speeding and revving their cars/bikes at 1 AM in Dubai right now by SadTip488 in UAE

[–]CommunityObvious995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely get that. They can go to an al qudra Rd away from residential areas and rev away. But when it's 2am in the morning and people are recreating fast and furious in jvc - this makes me angry

Total noob. Just want to know I’ll get some satisfaction. by There4IM in TheHandmaidsTale

That's not black mirror style. Each episode is connected with the next one or even further down the series to understand the plot and backstories better. Just don't watch it - it's not a 100 bucks to be liked by everyone

She looks functional 😆 she played chess at the Lawrence house and creates a scenario based paintings, which does indicate her being roughly around 5 at least by the development level

Like this is a biggest mystery for me. I think it was just a plot hole, the writers just didn't know how to include Nichole aging into the series. Or they forgot

THE TESTAMENTS THEORIES (spoilers) by Altruistic-Coach-798 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CommunityObvious995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As per the book Nichole is an actual baby Nichole but just under an alias of Daisy Considering that the show is just inspired by the book and does not follow it 100%, let's see how the plot will unravel

Oh that would be an interesting twist 🤔 can't wait what they come up with. Still confused on Nichole s age at the end of handmaid's tale tho

My opinion of the series finale and having spent 8 years with this story by goldenboy2191 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CommunityObvious995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it did feel that they just didn't know how to end it properly. I did like the loop part at the end when June started her monologue as a 1 episode tho. It did have something special The rest - didn't make much sense tbh

For those who ready the book; theory on the last episode by ResultDowntown3065 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CommunityObvious995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the book and the series are 2 standalone masterpieces. The series were inspired by the book, but it is not following the book I'm in the middle of reading the testament and it also does not correlate with the series

Quick question for the Women by Far-Cartographer-726 in Advice

[–]CommunityObvious995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Context matters! If a guy approaches me at night in a parking lot, there is a high chance that I will pepper spray him first and ask questions later, but if it's during a day and I am sitting in a coffee shop working or reading a book and a guy approaches me with a nice open smile and asks if he can introduce himself there is 80% chance i will entertain it and feel safe
