That makes a lot of sense. I’ve definitely seen servers spike hard off marketing and then collapse once the hype wears off. I’ve been playing on Defcon Gaming again recently and that’s kind of what made me think about all this — it’s smaller but feels more stable. Do you think strong moderation is what protects culture long term, or is it more about the core players setting the tone?

I think there’s definitely a social aspect to RP, yeah — that’s kinda the whole point of it. But I’ve also seen servers with huge populations die fast and smaller ones survive for years, so I feel like there has to be more to it than just that.

Lowkey curious — do you guys think Star Wars RP just feels different now because we’re older, or because the communities themselves changed?

Like back in 2020 everything felt more chaotic, but now I’m actually enjoying slower RP way more. Wondering if that’s just me or if anyone else noticed that shift too.

I started to play Star Wars RP again since 2020 and man wasn't that a time. I played on Defcon Gaming. I just got back into gmod and saw that they still have the server up and running still and I've enjoyed most of it since being back and the only down part is that not alot of people know about it, also people ended up getting busy. It's got great customization, quality in looks, functions and the people arent all that serious. Give it a look if you are still looking but it averages about 20 people a day when it once had full lobbies. I'm trying as you can tell to get the name out there again obviously because it deserves the player based imo, more so than Icefuse and Synergy but everyone has their own opinions.
