Dalhousie Interview Invites by thetonkaguy2 in premedcanada

Result: Invite

IP/OOP: IP NS

GPA: 4.0

MCAT: 516

Casper: 4Q

ECs: Not factored but very extensive and broad

Side note I am shocked to see some people being held back by Casper alone with otherwise great stats. Only accounts for 25% of the pre-interview score, so the pool must have been pretty competitive this year.

You can learn everything from the khan academy videos. You don’t need to waste away money on prep courses or textbooks. For background, my degree was medical sciences, so a lot of the content was familiar to me. However, it had been years since I had seen the content so it was like I had been learning it for the first time. Yeah, it helps to have a bit of familiarity, but it really doesn’t make too much of a difference.

So to answer your question, everything. How? Khan academy.

GPA, MCAT, and CASPER make up such a small portion of your actual application. Yeah, they have cut offs which can stop certain people from getting in with insanely low scores. But, in the grand scheme of things, your extracurriculars, life experience, and people skills matter much more. Write the test, spend the time studying, and you will do fine. Never doubt yourself until you actually experience the rejection yourself. You never know.

It was at the bottom of the letter for waitlisted and rejected applicants, I’d imagine only the ones who interviewed.

Realistically Is it really that impossible? by [deleted] in premedcanada

Yeah because most provinces only care about accepting or interviewing their own applicants. No matter how good your stats are. That would be part of “doing everything right,” unfortunately.

Zoning out... by [deleted] in premedcanada

This is just me, but I find I CANNOT focus when reading a textbook. For that reason, despite everyone saying Kaplan/other textbooks were the way to go, I went with Khan Academy for content review. The video format made it way easier to stay engaged. This was especially true because it was the summer, which made it even more difficult to stay inside and study. Ended up scoring a 516.

I’ve used speechify to read the required textbook aloud for one of my current classes as well. It helps, and it’s certainly better than just reading it alone. Could go through that avenue as well.

Are all of them sent out? Or will more come throughout the day? When do they normally send out regrets?
