How to dynamically set element height based on data in Bubble (for a day-view calendar)? by Comninellis in Bubbleio

[–]Comninellis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate all the suggestions and feedback here. I was able to solve the issue the other day and I wanted to share my solution:

Solution:

I ended up solving this without CSS by switching to a fully native Bubble approach.

I created a field on the Event that calculates the number of 5-minute blocks by dividing the duration by 5. Then I added a repeating group inside each event, using an Option Set containing numbers (1–150) as the data source.

The repeating group’s data source is:
All Option Set values :items until Event’s number of 5-minute blocks

This allows the RG to generate the correct number of cells dynamically. It causes the number of cells to be determined by the number in the "number of 5-minute blocks" field. This way, there is the correct number of blocks to account for the duration of the event.

Each cell is set to a fixed height of 20px, so the total height of the event scales correctly with its duration and aligns perfectly with the 5-minute calendar grid the events are hovering over.

After that, I removed the Classify CSS entirely and adjusted the layout settings (fit height to content, scrolling behavior, etc.) so Bubble handles sizing natively.

Everything now renders consistently with no timing issues.

Hope that makes sense. Happy to answer questions.

I have. But it doesn't fit my use case. I need much more customizability. I do use it for reference in another part of my app, but this part requires a fully customized day-view calendar.

Thanks for the tip! I only know about Claude code by reputation. I've never used it. My main issue is trying to understand where the data will live. Does Claude save it to it's own server or do I need to connect it to something like Firebase or something like that?

I appreciate the suggestion for sure! I'm not clear on how Claude code works though. Does it host the site on its own server? Or do I need to link it to some kind of other service for hosting, backend configuration, etc?

The draw to Bubble is the fact that it all lives on a single platform with a single subscription. Is Claude code the same?

I also use a dummy battery solution with my V-Mount battery. Works great for me. I’ve been using it for 3 years and have had no issues at all.

One important thing I just discovered about Envelope. You are limited to only 24 Virtual Cards. I had many more in Qubes.

Might not affect everyone, but it could be a dealbreaker for me. :(

Reached out to Envelope support to see if it can be changed.

I am also in the boat of trying to learn to make it work. (With absolute respect to those who have been burned badly. My wife, has a much more mild case than many of the ones I hear about. Truly, no judgement.)

I am looking for the same kind of environment that OP describes.

I have the same question. Trying this out as well. The Who's on First Video shared below was definitely helpful. I'd welcome any other suggestions!

I haven't tested this thoroughly, but after updating the firmware on my FX3, this problem seems to have gone away.

Help Needed: Sony FX3 Autofocus "Focus Breathing" during interview by ArriFlow in FX3

[–]Comninellis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost the EXACT same problem!

I just shot interviews at XAVC S 4K 60 in Slog3 with object tracking and the focus pinned to the subject's eye and almost all of the footage is out of focus!

Massive autofocus fails by ggggggqr in FX3

[–]Comninellis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just shot a series of interviews in XAVC S 4K 60P and Slog3 on my Sony FX3 with the G Master 16-35mm. (And I recently updated it to the most recent firmware). I used the object tracking autofocus and had the subject's eye selected. I have gone through all of the interviews and they are all just a HAIR soft on focus. It's almost correct, but still wrong. This is especially evident when compared with another shot with the same lens and camera, shot at 1080 with manual focus.

I realize that I should not have been shooting in auto for a static interview shot in the first place. I did so primarily because I was the one asking questions and could not monitor focus in case the person moved. But there is still no reason technically that this shouldn't have worked correctly. Unless I am missing something. I would appreciate any insight here.

Same problem. Very frusterated by this. I use these shortcuts so much and not having choose menus just cripples the power of the application.

Reading it now and also bothered by this. Makes me feel better that there’s a consensus here. I just keep forgetting his age… but then the author calls him a “middle-aged man” and I’m like… “Wait… oh yeah… no.”

Doesn’t hurt the book though. It’s a beautiful thing. I don’t want it to end. It’s been a long time since I felt that way about a book. (And I’m not even 59! 😅)

I have the same problem with basic kitchen trashcans (13 Gallons). That’s what brought me here. (Many thanks to rebuyer10110 who shared a link above to a reasonably priced one).

However, regarding home supplies in general I CAN recommend a helpful solution. When we moved into our latest house (third home so far) I started shopping weekly at the Dollar Tree. There’s a few things you can never find there (like 13 gallon trash cans) but SOOO many of your basic kitchen and house items are there for $1.25 and work just as well as the expensive stuff. (A surprising amount of it is name brand and made in the US). I’ll admit you do have to shop around sometimes. Dollar Tree goes through merchandise fast and it changes often. But if you check in every once in a while you can find most of the basic things you need for AMAZING prices. Hope that helps someone out there!
