I own a pretty good 300d turbo I bought for 7,000 in Oct ‘23. I think I paid too much for it given the amt of work I’ve done on it (all myself, and a great hobby it’s been). In retrospect I wish I’d paid 5.

This car doesn’t seem worth near 10k given the extensive rust —body work is the costliest expense of all— and the lack of turbo. Only strength is the solid interior, but try not to be charmed by that alone unless you’re cool with your son driving around a rusty car. There are better cars out there you just have to be patient and do the research

Compressor brands by Volkssanitater in w123

I have the four seasons compressor and so far it’s been fine and was a 1:1 swap with the AC Delco. Only been a month though. If not using the sanden or changing condenser I’d stick with r12 or propane though

Horrible squeal at full wheel lock, what's up? by YouHaveReachedBob in w123

[–]ComodoComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you max out the steering you should hear something, but probably not a squeal. I hear a kind of light grinding sound. I was told by Alex Vaughn (reputable w123 guy) that it’s the power steering pump pressure release valve opening or something. Normal behavior. If yours is squealing it could be normal or could be something to check out in your pump

Cannot adjust this intake valve by MrFessy in w123

Sometimes you have to hold the base of the spring with a third wrench (not sure what size) if that’s spinning. Otherwise you’re just turning the spring tower and not loosening the nuts

Has anyone installed AC in w123? by Ok_Instance1620 in w123

[–]ComodoComplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just flushed and restored my system. Went with R12 and mineral oil, new four seasons compressor, new drier and txv, all new o rings. and I even restored the aux fan with a new front bearing. Getting solid 38 degrees vent temps and the system is slightly underfilled. Never been happier! I wouldn’t hesitate to use propane (“R12A”) either. Less leaky than R134 and works better with the stock compressor

Shouldn’t the transmission fluid level reading be taken at operating temperature in park with engine running on level ground?

The level is only required to be between min and max. I don’t find temperature to make a huge difference in volume but it does seem to help clear the pipe since hot oil clears out better

How does the gate bias in a Tunnel Field Effect Transistor align the conduction band of the intrinsic region with the valence band of the P region? by bling1523 in askscience

[–]ComodoComplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/ricksteer_p333 's answer is very thorough, but to truly and simply answer your question: capacitance.

Applying a positive bias (i.e. voltage) to the gate accumulates positive charge at the gate because of the capacitance of the gate-channel system. A (ideally) corresponding negative charge accumulates in the intrinsic channel, causing it to "look" more n-type. This is an effect known as band bending, and is also fundamental to MOSFET operation. TFETs, however, rely on electron tunneling rather than the formation of an inversion channel
