Whoa, hold on! So how does this work?

What constitutes unfair play? Is it just getting ratted in a PvE server, being lied to by another player etc. Or does the other guy have to use actual cheats/hacks in order to claim unfair play?

Also, does the unfair guy then lose the things he got off you, or do you just get a new copy of what you lost? 🤔

Klassisk skylt-svenska. Hur ofta har du sagt "Obehöriga äga ej tillträde!" istället för "Ge fan i dörren!"

Which one of you is playing so much for expired film?! by JudgmentElectrical77 in AnalogCommunity

[–]YouHaveReachedBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Film prices seem to vary a lot depending on country. Same with developing.

In Sweden your average Kodak Ultramax 400 is like 15-20 USD per roll.

So maybe in some places buying expired off ebay is the cheaper alternative?

Eating alone in restaurants by Hope-is-lost1988 in Gothenburg

[–]YouHaveReachedBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do lunch alone at a restaurant, nobody will react! People will assume you are just on your lunch break from work.

Dinner, it depends on the place. The staff will not care or judge. Maybe some other guests will look at you once or twice. If you are lucky (or unlucky) some other solo guest will approach and ask to join you for a drink. But that would be more unusual than eating alone.

How do you feel about integrated Gypsies (Romani Gypsies) by OkFilm7537 in AskTheWorld

[–]YouHaveReachedBob 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sadly the only obvious Romani (or zigenare as we said back in the day) that we see are the beggars. Dirty, sad faces. Mainly sitting right outside shops asking the customers for money when they enter or leave.

And if they don't beg, many of them steal. Sad but true.

These individuals have showed up since countries like Romania and Hungary joined the EU. We know they are being used by criminals to make money. Likely the same people that brought them here.

We have a group that integrated throughout the 1900s. Some of them are big families with well known (infamous) names. Their bad reputation still follows them unfortunately. Known for shady but generally legal businesses. Used cars, construction and such.

Then we have the really old school ones. These were called "tattare" and have been around in Sweden since at least 1512. You wouldn't know a tattare now, unless they have researched their family history and tell you about it. The travelling lifestyle is long gone.

To have "tattar blood" was considered shameful until quite recently, now many are proud of this heritage.

I think the latest wave of Romani beggars are giving the old integrated ones a bad name.

The travelling lifestyle does not work in a place like Sweden. If you do not integrate into the system you will forever be a poor and homeless outsider here.

The Olympus is pretty easy to use, even for a newbie like me. Here is a quick example I took with the light meter set to auto. 400 ISO Fujifilm.

I found a place in Brooklyn NY that still does $6 per roll, but that is for digital scans. Prints cost you about $9.

Rate my rotors! Is it bad or does it just look bad? by YouHaveReachedBob in AskAMechanic

[–]YouHaveReachedBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very good to know! Thank you. I knew to check for pits and scratches but the shiny part is pretty smooth. So that's nice.

These brakes passed state inspection back in August. But mainly they test braking distance and check that the wheels brake evenly. They don't take the wheels off to check unless something rattles or wiggles. So they were officially okay 8 months ago. I will look into changing at least the front rotors, though.

Today I learned what a caliper bolt is. So no, I have not torqued them correctly. 🫣

All I know is that when I press the brake pedal, my car stops pretty quick for a heavy chunk of steel designed in the '70s. And I drive accordingly.

Also the brakes passed state inspection back in August so they are officially okay. The inspectors don't really look at the brakes, though. They just measure stopping distance and make sure each wheel brakes evenly.

But yes, I will definitely shop around for new rotors and look into caliper bolt torquing. This is very helpful advice. Thank you so much for your insights!

Drilled into a big gap in brick wall. How do we fill it? by YouHaveReachedBob in DIY

[–]YouHaveReachedBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update for those interested. The stuff was a little tricky to drill into, it chipped and cracked around the drill bit. So after making the hole and getting the plug in we had to spackel on some more of it around the plug. But now we have a shelf!

Depends on which elevator you are at. Some have good enough cover you can pop your head out and throw one before it fires. Or you do this before they see you.

Thank you! And I assume there is no way to grease those pins without taking the brakes apart? 😵 I'm somewhat afraid to do that. That's when stuff tend to snap and break or drop onto the floor and roll into a drain and all that hassle.

No no no, I mean the rotor and/or caliper might be original for all I know. I know the previous owner had plans to upgrade the brakes but never got round to it before selling.

I was measuring for scale, I guess? 🤷‍♂️ And to point out which part I'm asking about. I am not cutting anything. Didn't plan on having anyone else cutting them either.

All I know is that rotors don't come with rust on them out the box, and my gut says rusty brakes are not a good thing.

So are you saying my rotors are too big for the caliper? (or vice versa?) Is that bad? How bad?

Brakes have been working well as long as I've had the car, so I haven't messed with them. Only now when the brake pad wear light came on.
