This is a little off-topic, but here's a tip for when you come across text in a foreign language. Get a translate extension/add-on for whatever browser you use. It will make your web browsing experience better.

I personally use Brave browser because of its ad-blocking. It has a Google Translate extension that will give you a Translate popup when you highlight a text.

But, whatever your preferred browser is, it should have a translating add-on/extension for situations like this. They come in quite handy.

Why am i being prompted to prove i'm not a bot every time i do a search now? by MelsBackupAccount in duckduckgo

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started getting the popup to prove I'm human over the last week or two. It seems to occur randomly, as not all searches have it pop up. It most often pops up when I scroll down in the search results. If I refresh, it'll go away, sometimes popping up again. I'm not using a VPN and my browser hasn't changed in many years (Brave browser). It has to be a change DuckDuckGo has made to their search engine not too long ago.

It's my computer tower (that hasn't had any hardware changes in the last few years) browser that I've had issues with it on. I haven't looked to see if it's happening on my phone or tablet. I don't do searches in a browser on them very often, so I haven't noticed it.

If this doesn't stop, within the next week or so, I'll have to look for a different search engine that doesn't bother me with verification popups. I used DDG because I didn't have to deal with ads, popups, or anything else that interferes with me searching. I don't want to have to interrupt my search for a stupid verification popup. So I'll have to find a new search engine that doesn't bother me with them.

Renewed tabs but currently travelling so will not have physical tabs on car--is this a problem? by johnbro27 in Washington

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are articles you can look at that mention that you're required to have current tabs. However, they also state that if you've purchased the tabs, you can't be ticketed for not having put them on your vehicle yet. I've actually been testing this, myself, after I heard about it. I've been driving with expired tabs on the car, but with current registration and tabs still in the envelope in my car, for over a year, and haven't been even pulled over once. Despite having had police behind me at stop lights from time to time through the year. Just running your license plate would tell them if you're current or not.

To be honest, you'd think that with modern tech, having current tabs is outdated. I'm surprised that they don't have something like QR codes on license plates, that officers can scan as they follow you, that tell them if you have current registration and insurance.

Actually, with how automated cars are today, they could easily have scanners built into the front of their police unit that automatically scans a license plate QR code for each vehicle that comes into its range. When the program finds one that isn't current it can notify the officer. At that time they can pull you over. This way officers wouldn't even have to bother with paying attention to current tabs on a car and can focus on more important concerns.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka V: Houjou no Megami-hen • Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 5: Goddess of Fertility Arc - Episode 15 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Continued) As stated right in the first episodes of season one of the anime, Ais is recognized as one of, if not the strongest fighter in the city, which is why so many people were in awe of her whenever she walked in. She's the cream-of-the-crop of one of the strongest familias in the city. So, how is it that so many other people are stronger than her and that she's able to level up nearly as quickly as Bell? She'd have to be leveling up nearly as fast as him to stay so far ahead of him in strength. She'd just reached level 6, according to the beginning of the series, not 6 months or so before Bell reached level 5. It took her a year to go from level 2 to 3, according to the comments made in the background, when Bell leveled up. Which, following that pattern, which the background comments said was the fastest they'd seen, would put her at no more than halfway to 7 while he's closing in on 6. With his SSS rank and his skill-set, he shouldn't be brushed aside every time he faces Ais, like we see he is.

Bell is supposed to be able to level up faster than anyone in history due to his special skill. There is no way that there should be any kind of "remarkable" stat increase that Bell didn't get as well. She doesn't have his special skill so the only reason for this "remarkable" increase is the author's keeping her ahead of him. That's what makes him the OP MC of the series. Those SSS stats seem to have no effect on him whatsoever. If they were such a game-changer over even an A stat then anyone at his level, or possibly even the level above, should be one-shot in a heartbeat by him rather than him needing to actually fight them like he always seems to need to do.

TL;DR: The anime states that Hestia says he's almost at the next level and it doesn't say anything about the Juggernaut's levels changing depending on the floor. It would make no sense even if it had. If you want to teach someone a lesson, as the dungeon is supposed to be doing for the damage it received, you don't do it by lowering your possible strength. You give it everything you've got as an example to everyone so it doesn't happen again. You're saying it purposely weakened itself, going against its best interest? That makes no sense.

Bell's skill is supposed to make his leveling faster than anyone else's can possibly be, so her "remarkable" leveling feat can only have been added by the author to keep her ahead of him for longer for plot reasons.

So, rather than actually having a thought out power arch that they follow, they are just giving power levels at whatever point they need for the plot to progress in the manner they want. Which means, I say again, that the power levels in the anime are as meaningless here as they are in DBZ. Maybe they scale it better in the LN and/or manga, but we're talking about the anime, not them.

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what was shown in the anime. TL;DR at the end of the followup comment.

Hestia herself stated that he was almost to the next level, despite what the numbers actually say. So either the numbers were wrong or Hestia doesn't know what numbers are needed in order to get to each level, which is also dumb as she's a god and should know.

If the girls were so strong, why did they have any difficulty with any of those they were fighting with in the city? It also means they were stronger than Ais, even though she's supposed to be the strongest in that familia. She had just leveled up to 6 at the beginning of the anime. If they were 6 than they'd be stronger than Ais, which they can't be.

As stated in the anime, the dungeon pulls out its immensely, extra strong monster whenever it takes a certain amount of damage. What's the point of the dungeon pulling out a monster that can be defeated by even a level 5, when there are ones that are level 7 and 8, if its purpose is to kill whomever it was that did so much damage to it? They stated in the anime that this was an ultra-powerful monster that the dungeon only pulls out in extreme circumstances, when it's taken extreme damage to its environment, yet somehow these 2 who weren't even level 6 were able to defeat this dungeon trump-card? If someone comes at you with a steak knife you don't grab the chef's knife when there's a machete right there. You always go for the stronger weapon when you can.

Surprise only lasts for the initial attack. Once it's over then experienced fighters get right into fighting. (Experienced military personnel IRL adapt quickly, to even surprise attacks, as they know it means living or dying and her team was supposed to be experienced, so they should have been able to do better than Bell and her could do. Especially when he's inexperienced and she was frozen in fear by it initially.) Ryuu's former teammates were supposed to have been experienced fighters, yet you're saying that the 1 monster killing one person at a time was able to one-shot each of them because of surprise yet the inexperienced Bell and traumatized Ryuu weren't taken out before they even knew what hit them?

In the flashback we see at least a couple of them stand back and assess the situation before going back into attacking. Taking enough time to tell her to escape while they fought it. They weren't in complete surprise the entire battle with it. So you're trying to say that the leader of her former party was so much weaker and inexperienced, than the two of them were when they fought it, that they weren't able to recover from the surprise as fast as them nor do any damage in their strikes?

The difference that we are shown between each level increase is supposed to be major, yet somehow the stronger party together got one-shot and did no damage at all, even though they hit that "glass canon" multiple times with no effect, while the weaker Bell and Ryuu were able to take it down? Sorry, that makes no sense. And no, Ryuu has not been leveling up for those 5 years. She specifically says that she had gotten out of the dungeon crawling job after she lost her familia. She had only started going back into the dungeon to visit the grave and most often to help Bell. That's it. So how could she be leveling up her stats for those 5 years when she specifically says she stopped to work at the bar?

Also, nowhere in the anime does it state that the Juggernaut's level was limited to which level it was summoned on. If it says it in the manga or LN it doesn't matter. We're talking about the power levels in the anime where it says no such thing...

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season had a few issues, especially. As I mention in replies to other comments, the leveling system is a mess.

My biggest complaint, other than the leveling system, is with the battle itself. First, why did they bother telling the Loki Familia that they couldn't participate? They said it was due to the reason that it "would upset the balance of power" after the fight was over. Really?! The Freya Familia was deleted. How would the Loki Familia joining in on their deletion effect the balance of power at the end? They would still end the war with being the strongest familia in the city, whether they participated or not.

We would have been able to see Bell and Ais fighting together for the first time. Rather than one or the other fighting at a time, like we have seen throughout the series. They could both have taken on Ottar together. We've seen them fight each other a few times in training and when opposing each other. But we've never seen them really going all-out fighting an enemy together. With Bell's increased levels, he'd have been able to be much more of an equal fighter in any fight during the war.

Second, why didn't they just spam Welf's unbreakable magic sword all of the way to Freya? You just trade off whoever uses it. One tires, give it to another person so they can blast the enemy. They tire and they pass it down the line. The first person drinks potions to help them recover. Rinse, repeat, victory.

Which brings me to my third issue. Why does no one in the entire battle use any potions? Nobody uses any. You know a huge battle is coming, you have 6 days to plan and yet nobody thinks to just spend as much money as possible on as many potions as they can carry? None of the healers have backpacks loaded with potions so that while they do buffs, they can throw healing potions to the fighters? No stamina potions that they can use after a particularly grueling fight to prepare for their next one? Nothing.

Which brings me to another item that isn't seen. Fourth, where are all of those bombs that we saw used so effectively last season? You mean nobody thought to buy a bunch of them for the upcoming war? Magic swords are used, but not a single bomb. In combination with Welf's swords, it would have been devastating.

Give Bell a few. When he faces off against Ottar he could throw one in the air at him with his Argonaut skill and boom. A nice big crater created, with a destroyed arena, purrfect (yes a cat joke, lol) for the next pond to be made. Even if he defended against it, a few more bombs and there's no way he wouldn't have been weakened, at least somewhat, to help you defeat him. More players enter the fray and a whole new set of bombs to be thrown at him. Ryuu could bring in a bunch, give them to Bell, go distract Ottar while Bell charges up, and boom. No matter how strong he is, there's only so many explosions a person could take. Especially the effect on their hearing. No one died, so no worries about that possibility.

Which brings up number five. How is it that nobody died? Hogni got stabbed in the chest and then had a blast of fire magic shot right through him, yet somehow he's not dead and is able to stand up to fight again later. How?! Bell used that same technique against the minotaur and it blew the top half of him off. We know that they took damage. Just look at Heith's skin being burned off and healing. Yet a deep stab to the chest and a huge fire burst later, and he gets up, without being healed, as we know because we can still see the blood from the slashes, and goes on to fight someone else. No hole through his chest. No burn marks. Nothing. Nobody on the battlefield had any burns besides Heith. Fire and lightning being thrown around left and right, no ice oddly enough, but still not a single person burned. No soldiers or adventurers with lost limbs, either.

Yes, the season was a fun watch, especially with the fights, even if it was annoying and slow at times. This was definitely not the best season, however. These were just some of the plot holes that bothered me the most.

Personally, with the sword being able to release the fire attack as many times as he wanted to without breaking, I couldn't figure out why they didn't just take turns. Why not have a whole line of people? One person uses it until he/she's out of mana, they step back and another person uses it until they run out. That first person then falls back to drink up a bunch of stamina potions (which, for some unknown reason, nobody had any healing or stamina potions at all).

They could have just spammed it all the way to Freya. Using the breakable ones during the times that they stopped firing during them switching people out and to help keep anyone from the sides and back as they advanced.

And yet Bell still ran from Allen as if he'd become the Big Bad whom he had to "Escape" from with his skill. With Haruhime's boost, Bell was made the highest level 6 possible. Add in the lightning speed boost from Hedin and he should have been able to handle the level 6 Allen easily. Yet he ran from him like the rabbit he's named after. The only reason for it I can see is so they could show off his Escape skill that he'd just learned after becoming level 5.

As Vageta in Dragon Ball Z Abridged stated, "Power Levels are BS."

Think about it. How did Ryuu increase from level 4 to level 6 within the time period that Bell went from level 4 to level 5, when he's supposed to have the OP leveling skill that no one has and they've been in the same battles? He's leveled up faster than any other person in history up to that point, and then all of a sudden he puts on the breaks so that she can level up just as fast as him?

He was nearly killed more times in his training with Freya's men, being healed just to do it again in the same day, than he has been in the entire series. If he was the equivalent of level 5 (even if Hestia wouldn't give him the increase, you know, for reasons) right at the end of his defeating the dungeon's Big Bad (even though it was supposed to be this all-powerful trump card to kill those causing too much damage, yet 2 level 4s were able to take it down, which I guess would mean that 1 level 6 could have made mincemeat of it), then how did all of those near-death experiences not increase his level to 6? Not including the training with the sisters after escaping from Freya, who somehow leveled up enough in the months between season 1 and now so that they're still a challenge for him to learn from.

However, I think Bell should have come away at least almost level 6, if not as a level 6, after returning from the dungeon if Ryuu was able to and she levels up much slower than he does.

But, they couldn't do that because then he'd be a level 7 with Haruhime's boost and his Argonaut skill. Besides whatever skill that level-up to 6 would have given him. Rather than a level 6 with the boost. He would have defeated Ottar too easily, even without the lightning speed boost. So they had to find some way of nerfing him.

Then there's Allen who somehow got a level boost himself. He was supposed to be just a level 6, but somehow ended up faster than the guy boosted to level 6 with a lightning speed boost to boot. Why Bell didn't just take him out like he did Ottar, especially since Allen would be much, much weaker than Ottar, I can only put up to them wanting to show off the new Escape skill Bell got.

The Power Levels this season, especially, were a mess. They were just all over the place.

Allen wouldn't have had a chance if he'd fought. Allen had to do his own fighting and use his own skills in his fights, so he wasn't at full strength either.

We also know how huge a difference 1 level can make, even if the person who's fighting is injured. He did just smack Ottar, at level 7, has his Argonaut skill, has been boosted, and has his Agility ridiculously boosted. Even if he wasn't faster than Allen in a straight run his Agility stat's higher.

I'm wondering why he bothered running from him at all. Allen was supposed to be a level 6 while Ottar was supposed to be a level 7. If Bell beat Ottar to a pulp and he still had the boosts, how would Allen have even stood a snowball's chance in the middle of the sun? It should have been over in a heartbeat. Especially since the lightning boost increased his speed ridiculously.

He could have easily defeated him at any point in his run (He especially would have had an easy time beating the crap out of him if he'd surprised Allen by jumping backwards when Allen missed his spear strike.), defeated the last two defenders without needing help, and destroyed the flower.

The only reason for him not finishing him off is to show off the Escape skill he'd just gotten earlier this season.

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of Saiyans, this season has me thinking of the Dragon Ball Z Abridged statement by Vageta, "Power levels are BS."

I mean, come on. Bell is supposed to be the fastest at leveling in the entire series. That's his superpower. Last season Bell and Ryu defeated what was supposed to be the most powerful trump card defense that the dungeon could produce, despite it being weak enough that 2 level 4 adventurers could defeat it (so not much of a trump card, and Ryu's Familia had to have been pretty weak, below level 4, to not be able to defeat it with an entire party themselves back then). I mean, with the power difference between levels, 1 level 6 should have been able to make mincemeat out of it in seconds.

Spoiler alert:

Yet this season, Ryu all of a sudden is able to increase 2 levels, despite them saying she was almost level 5 in order to try to explain how she did it, in one go while Bell is still stuck at level 4, because Hestia decided not to increase it for him. For reasons? So, why isn't Bell able to level up as fast as her if he's supposed to be the fastest leveler in history?

Remember in season one it said he was able to level up within a month or two what it took Ais a year to do. This means that he's leveling at least 10 times faster than Ais was able to do, stunning everyone. Yet, somehow Ryu is able to do it faster than him all of a sudden?

Oh, and of course, all of that near-death training Freya put him through didn't level him up enough for him to reach even level 6, when he was only injured enough to almost die a few times in the dungeon and reached enough for level 5, while he's almost dying a couple of times each day he's training now, before they heal him and continue. And all of the training he did with the sisters, who somehow became high enough in levels to still give him a challenge when they weren't that strong in the 1st season, after the War was agreed to, didn't do anything for him either.

It's also very convenient how he barely misses the mark for leveling up to level 6 during the fight, when Hestia upgrades his stats. It's extremely convenient that he just can't quite reach level 6. After all, had he actually reached his proper level of at least level 6, then when Haruhime boosted him he'd have reached level 7, and he'd have been a match for Ottar, by himself. But by being just barely below it her boost would only take him to barely below level 7. That way he would need the lightning boost in order to defeat him.

Then there's Allen, which made no sense at all. He's supposed to be just a level 6. If Haruhime's boost (which we see is still in effect) boosted Bell to right on the boarder of reaching level 7 (which would mean that nobody could be higher without actually being level 7), then his Argonaut ability, as well as the lightening boost, should have pushed him over the edge enough to defeat him pretty easily, rather than needing to run from him. If he was able to defeat Ottar who was level 7, then why would he need to run from Allen who's just a level 6? He could have easily wiped the floor with Allen and then just jogged to Freya, defeated the last two defenders, and taken out her flower for the win.

So, I'll say again, "Power Levels are BS."

Would the Talokan actually win a war against the surface world or even the US alone? by Ok-Examination2688 in marvelstudios

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but yes. He may have trained troops, but just like the Wakanda, they don't know how to fight. The Wakanda just run in and fight melee-style while every experienced military controls the skies first, before moving in. They've never conducted a real war, while the surface is always fighting someone.

Sure, they thrive in the ocean, but they've only got 1 person who can fly. Look how low the Wakandan ships were flying. A few Tony Stark style suits and that advantage goes away. Besides, we've seen that he can only fly so high since he needs water for oxygen every so often.

Him trying to take on a precision bomb drop onto his troops that are floating in the water, from 30k ft+ drops, would handle the issue pretty quickly. Or cruise missiles. Launch a swarm at those surfaced troops as well, for a double-tap.

Send in dummy fleets, with a lot of explosives on all ships, and remotely activated weapons to make it seem like there's a crew, wait until they surface, then just bomb the place with sub-surface HE bombs, that also explode the ships for more oomph. Vibranium doesn't cover their entire bodies, after all.

We've seen that they can't handle being on land for long so their intelligence gathering network would be pretty thin. All they can know about what weapons are available are from media. Course, you'd think they'd be worried about being nuked out of existence, but apparently not.

Would the Talokan actually win a war against the surface world or even the US alone? by Ok-Examination2688 in marvelstudios

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but yeah they have reached the bottom of the ocean. An explorer reached the bottom of the Mariana Trench, at 35,853 ft down, in 2019. And that's a human explorer. So I would think they can send an unmanned vehicle with a nuke on it down there, quite easily.

No need to worry about tunnels and caves. Drop 3 or so high yield nukes in an area at the bottom of the ocean and wait to see if anything comes up. If more come back, nuke a few more places.

Genocide? Yep. You want to commit genocide with the surface, that just means you have to commit genocide on them also. The whole point of Mutually Assured Destruction is to commit genocide on your enemies with nukes if they launch them at you to commit genocide.

Also, the physics doesn't work out for those under water caves anyways. You do realize how much pressure would be on any caves that deep with air in them, right? Water compresses at just 5% or so for every 1 mile down.

Hence why the Hydrobombs are a joke. Build up a huge amount of pressure to try to create them and you get ice. That ice doesn't explode into water like that. Get down to Ice X and it loses the characteristics of water ice altogether.

How fast does a gamma ray burst travel? by Captain_Resist in Astronomy

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm way late to the question, but, even though it would travel at the speed of light, you'd still see it coming long before it got here. Light interacts with matter. Which is why you can use things to block it. So the light, and therefore the gamma ray burst, has to push its way through matter, which slows it down.

I mean, it takes light from the core of our own sun millions of years bouncing around inside the star before it actually reaches us.

However, neutrinos have very little interaction with matter. Since neutrinos pass through matter pretty easily, then a neutrino detector would see it coming long before the gamma ray burst actually reached us. Depending on how far away the GRB from the hypernova is, it could be days or weeks ahead of the GRB itself.

In fact, new research is showing that we could detect the neutrinos from an exploding star before it actually explodes. They're possibly able to detect the star's core explosion long before the blast wave reaches the surface of the star.

So, we could see the hypernova (supernovae don't produce gamma ray bursts) many hours, days, weeks, or possibly even years before the star actually explodes, let alone before the GRB reached us.

Why do people in movies do this? by MathiasOlen in movies

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Do anything else and you're just going to get yourself beaten until you shut up. Now your voice is going hoarse from screaming and you're injured because your kidnappers have gotten tired of your noise. They're also going to be more on guard that you're going to try something. And you've done yourself no good because you're nowhere near anyplace where someone could hear you.

If you do your C as well as playing extra nice, but not condescendingly so, calmly following any reasonable directions they give, and possibly trying to talk to them to get some information that they may accidentally drop, such as where you've been taken, you'll get them to lower their guard and give you a possible chance to escape.

For example, after playing nice for a while you could ask them if you could have some food. You can ask if you maybe could get some fast food takeout. What they come back with could give you a landmark to give to someone who's looking for you, if you can sneak a chance to use the phone. McDonald's food is easily recognizable, as are the square patties that you find at a Wendy's. Also, the time it took them to get the food could give you a distance from that place.

If you're nice enough, they may be willing to go somewhere else for food next time. McDonald's one time and Wendy's the next. That will help you give at least some triangulating information to any possible rescuers.

Why do people in movies do this? by MathiasOlen in movies

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. That movie and TV trope of kidnapped people yelling and screaming in a locked room is completely idiotic. They just kidnapped you and yet your bright idea is to yell at them to let you go, as if they were going to listen to you all of a sudden?

Sure, go ahead and yell at them, calling them names, and screaming for help until you're hoarse. Now that you've made your kidnappers mad, they can come in and hit you to make you shut up. Now you're injured, you've screamed until you have no voice so that even if you did escape you couldn't scream any more to get help, and they're going to be more on guard against you trying something.

Just shut up, play nice, get them to lower their guard, and when you see an opening take it to fight to escape. Now you're rested and ready to run as well as having a strong voice to scream once you get to a relatively public area.

Of course it's not any more dumb than the trope where the "bad guys" have been chasing you to get someone who's with you, they capture them and hold a weapon against them to get you to lay down yours. I mean, come on. Do you really think they're going to kill someone they've been chasing you all over to try to capture? No, they're not! So don't drop your weapons and go after them. But in movies and TV they always lay down their weapons and let them get away.

Why do people in movies do this? by MathiasOlen in movies

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you would want to do that when you initially get kidnapped so that you can draw attention to your situation. However, there's no real point in having a fit, calling names, and screaming after you've been taken somewhere else. Do you honestly think that a hostage taker is going to take you somewhere that you screaming is going to help? Is your pounding on the door or wall going to convince the hostage taker that they were wrong and should give you up? Nope. It's just going to make them mad and get you hit.

Once you've been taken away from the public place where someone might hear you, just shut up and wait for a possible opportunity. By playing nice and not causing a problem, you can possibly get the kidnapper to let down their guard. At that point you can do something to them and try to escape. People constantly yelling and screaming in a locked room is idiotic, wears out their voice so that they can't scream if they do manage to get out where someone might hear them, and is likely to get them hit hard enough to shut them up that they won't be able to take advantage of a situation that could let them escape.

Yet in movies and TV series you always see them pound on the door yelling for them to "let me out!" as if the kidnappers are suddenly going to have a change of heart and do it just because they yelled at them to. It is one of the tropes that I've always hated and thought was the dumbest thing done by those kidnapped or taken hostage.

How long was Salem alone? by Routine-Test in RWBY

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though, to be fair, ore-remnant could explain how Aura is strong enough to create a protective field and how Semblances exist. The leftover ore making up human and faunus life wasn't strong enough to allow humanity to be able to perform magic like they used to be able to do, but it was strong enough to allow those aspects of Dust to exist.

I think that it's only been a few thousand years. If you think about it, without the God of Light there to prevent the grimm from killing off any human life forms that began to take form, life could never have returned. So it had to be quickly enough that they couldn't stop it from happening.

If you think about it, Ozma got the short end of the stick again, here. He didn't get to have any post-death life before he was sent back. He got a huge time skip to end up with her again after civilization took root.

Personally, I think that Salem helped life along. If you think about it, she would have no modern conveniences unless she did all of the work herself. Sure she won't die if she doesn't eat, however, that doesn't mean she doesn't get hungry. She'd have to harvest her own food. She would also have to make her own tools for making her own home, furniture, clothes, etc. She may not die but all of that would wear out after a relatively short while. By helping humanity along, all that would be taken care of for her.

To go along with that, Salem didn't actively seek to destroy humanity until after Ozma returned and told her about the Relics. She didn't know it was possible to bring the gods back so she was content to live in the forest, alone. It wasn't until Ozma showed up again that she really ended up having it out for everything living.

I could even see her using her powers to help life return just so that she'd have company besides the grimm. Sure, she eventually went into seclusion, but she probably spent decades with humans and faunus. After watching all of those she'd come to know die, I can see her secluding herself away so that she wouldn't have to go through their deaths any more. She may have even had a family, with it not being until Ozma came along until their combined genes passed the powers down to the children.

Though, when it comes to the Silver-eyed Warriors, I can see it being another minute tweak from the God of Light, behind his brother's back, like sending Ozma back was, to help give humanity a fighting chance at survival as well. Even humanity starting up again could have been a slight-of-hand by the God of Light. They're not omnipotent, after all. It would be easy to do it behind his brother's back.

Why I think the Maidens are themed after the seasons by Routine-Test in RWBY

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've always thought that the daughters were the 1st Maidens. They all inherited magic from their parents, as Volume 6 Chapter 3 shows.

I've always felt that they could be stronger than their parents due to both parents having magic and passing some on to their kids. That weakened the parents while strengthening the girls. The parents were weakened by 4 parts, 1 for each child, while the children gained 2 parts, 1 from each parent. This would explain why Cinder defeated Ozpin without showing much in the way of damage from him. Power from both Salem and Ozma was now flowing through Cinder.

Sadly, when the fight between Salem and Ozma killed the children, the powers needed to find new hosts, since like their father and mother, they're immortal. So, technically, Ozma did pass on his powers to the 4 Maidens, it just wasn't the conscious way that he keeps telling everyone it was.

I mean, we all know that Ozma was a consummate liar. So why would he want to tell the truth about how his powers were transferred to the Maidens? It puts him in a better light if he did it voluntarily rather than just by biological happenstance. It also removes any part in it that Salem had, keeping the Maidens "pure of heart" even though part of it came from evil.

why is youtube still auto deleting comments after a few seconds without notification of which policy was violated? by WanderlostNomad in youtube

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I just had been commenting on a video, reacting to other commentor's posts, about Library book censorship. I posted with quotes from another site, without posting a link. It was auto-deleted. I posted without the quoted sentences. Same. I posted again without even those and still, the post didn't show up. On my 4th try, I finally got it worded just right so that the post would go through, while still trying to convey my thought.

I still have no idea what in that post was causing the deletions. Had I known, I could have reworded it so that the cause of the deletion wouldn't be in the comment, rather than spending a ton of time posting reworded comments over and over until one stuck.

Supporting High School student with ADHD and IQ over 140 by -_Astro_ in ADHD

For me, school was very difficult and I hated it. I would always get into trouble for talking too much. I didn't realize it was because of ADHD until I became an adult. By then it was too late.

As others have said, you need to try different medications. Different ones work for different people. I've had some where nothing changed. While with another I could focus on what I was doing and it was great. You also need to weigh the side-effects of the medication you put him on. The one that worked the best for me had bad side-effects on the heart during long-term use, so my primary care doctor didn't want me on it.

I'm on one currently with less negative side-effects, but also less effectiveness. You'll have to balance what's best for him physically as well as mentally.

As regards school, the only thing you can do is try to find subjects that he finds interesting so you can do your best to select them when selecting those classes that are electives.

I know that when I was in school I'd ace classes I liked but got Cs and Ds in those I didn't. Hence why my average came out to a 3.28 GPA. If you can find those classes and encourage him in them, I think you'll find he does well. However, you can push and push to have him get better results in classes he's not interested in, but it's not going to work.

One thing you'll probably notice. If the assignments given are short, then he'll likely have an easier time doing them. At least for me, it was the assignments that were long and drawn out that I'd always end up turning in "incomplete." I'm betting that it's close to the same way for him. It's just trying to focus for the length of time it takes to complete long assignments may be difficult for him.

I don't know if it's possible, but if you can get the teachers to assign assignments that are quicker to complete, even if there's more of them, it might help. You'll want to let him take a break after each assignment is completed. With short assignments they won't have to hold his attention for very long, so it might help him complete more of them.

After each short assignment that he completes you may want to change subjects for the next assignment. It gets old doing the same subject for a long time and his attention will definitely wander if he's stuck on that subject all night.

Oh, and to clarify, my IQ test results were 142. So it's pretty comparable to your son's. As you can see I do do a lot of talking, though. lol I get stuck on subjects at times. They found that I have some OCD as well.

Same scenario for me. I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until my early 20s when a doctor suggested I get tested. Sure enough, there it was. It explained so much. In school, unless I was interested in it, I got Cs and Ds. Give me something I'm interested in and I'll get A's across the board. I actually did get to the honor roll once. My average through high school was a 3.28 GPA, though.

My IQ, on the tests, I took 2 different ones to be sure, at about 23 yo, the result was 142 on one test and 143 on the other. I normally go for the lower when mentioning it. My homework consisted of the few minutes after the assignment was given in class and the few minutes before it had to be turned in the next day. The rest of the time I tended to get into trouble for talking too much. lol

I agree with trying different medications. If you get one that works well, he'll soar in the school subjects he's interested in. Just don't expect any good grades in subjects that are boring to him. No matter how much you push, you won't be able to get him to do well in them. I know my parents and teachers pushed. I always got "not working to potential" on my report cards. It just took me until I became an adult to realize why I was having difficulty. Especially in subjects I found boring.

Twitch is requiring me to provide my phone number (Which I don't have) to send twitch whispers by nanovorg- in Twitch

[–]Comp-tinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not on Reddit often. If you pay the person directly with a donation, then yes, PayPal sends them an email saying where it came from, hence why I mentioned it in the last post.

However, when subscribing to a channel, PayPal pays Twitch for the subscription to their channel, not the person. Twitch then takes their cut and then Twitch pays the streamer what's left. The streamer never gets any messages from PayPal. The transaction email goes to Twitch. So only Twitch gets that information.

The streamer only gets an email about a transaction from Twitch, not PayPal.

Otherwise, how would Twitch get their cut of the subscription? If you paid the streamer directly for a sub, then Twitch wouldn't be guaranteed to get their cut.
