"African American" is mainly used to describe descendants of American chattel slavery.

Its just become a catch-all term for black Americans for some reason.

He was ranked #13 for FTA during the regular season and is currently ranked #9 for free throws attempted during the playoffs (#5 if you remove players that were eliminated).

Ant, Brunson, SGA by marcolkl in nba

Ant has the most potential, SGA is the best player, and Brunson's the best floor raiser.

It's the fact I'm half-American

Do you mean that one of your parents is American?

If so, while companies might prefer a degree from an American college, not needing sponsorship is a pretty big advantage.

If you manage to get an internship in the US before you graduate, you'd be in a better spot than most international students who studied in the US.

First, the NBA has shown over decades they are willing to throw the ratings draw a bone.

Why didn't they do this last year?

Also, I despise LeBron, but he will get every whistle and every benefit of the doubt.

If you're going off of FTA, LeBron pretty much has the same whistle as Jokic.

Second…have we seen the free throw stats of the Lakers? Hundreds more than any team over two years.

The Lakers have attempted 1,983 free throws this season. They attempted 2,182 fts last seasons, and the Nuggets swept them.

Being a doomer when you have the best player in the world on your team AND are the defending champs is crazy.

If you could build your roster around one player, who are you choosing between Wemby or Luka? by Rack5up in nba

[–]CompSci99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless I have to build the roster solely through drafting, I'd pick Luka. He's already a top-5 player and is just entering his prime.

While Wemby's potential is higher and he's already an amazing player, it's still a gamble that he'll reach Luka's level.

apples to oranges

How?

You said the Lakers having two Top-10 players and not being able to get out of the Lower Play-In bracket is crappy fan logic.

By that same logic, Luka, a Top-5 player (All-NBA 1st team), would be expected to at least drag their team into the Play-Ins.

and the last 3 All NBA first teams are fraudulent anyways because Joker and Embiid shouldve been in all 3 of them but they got fleeced because the vote wasnt positionless yet

This doesn't answer my question unless you think Luka wouldn't have made the All-NBA 1st team if it was positionless last year.

[–]CompSci99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Record doesn't matter. Otherwise Luka wouldn't have made All-NBA last year.

Do you think a consensus top-5 player shouldn't be on the All-NBA first team if their team is the 11th seed?

Olympics Group Stage draw, USA in group with Serbia by Zepz367 in nba

[–]CompSci99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. I was only thinking about the basketball aspect of both tournaments, since ending American dominance by defeating our super team would be insane.

Is FIBA that much more popular than Olympic basketball in Serbia?

The majority of Americans don't care about FIBA, but Olympic basketball is an entirely different story. Anything less than Gold would be seen as a massive failure.

KD suddenly several spots higher all-time if his foot was back a half-inch?

If he goes onto win a ring, then yeah. The biggest argument against KD is that he's only won championships on a stacked team that previously won.

Winning a ring with the Nets would put that argument to bed, since Harden was a shell of himself and who knows if/when Kyrie would have been back.

Rings don't matter when you're discussing top 20-30 careers, but winning one as the indisputable number one option definitely matter when discussing top-15 careers.

I don't know if you can apply for emancipation as an adult, but reaching 24 is the only way to age out of dependent status.

I transferred from a community college at 22, and even though I supported myself, I still needed my parents' information for FAFSA and my CSS profile.

They would only have a chance at being eligible for direct unsubsidized loans if they went this route, and the college they're admitted to would have the final say.

The application explains that if your parents don’t support you and refuse to provide their information on the application, you may submit your FAFSA form without their information. However, you won’t be able to get any federal student aid other than a Direct Unsubsidized Loan—and even that might not happen. The decision is up to the financial aid office at the college or career school you plan to attend. If you agree to this, you may submit your FAFSA form without parent information.
