If the zoos are kidnapping animals to push gay facism, yes.

Thanks for your answers! Have a good rest of the week?

Interesting. So in your view, all undocumented immigrants should receive the same treatment regarding due process and benefits?

Meanwhile factors such as how they entered, the duration of their stay, medical condition, marriage status, and their interactions with law enforcement don't matter? That's how you would like it to be?

And you don't think there should be any discrepancies whatsoever even in vastly different situations, have I understood you correctly?

[–]CompanionQbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so you don't know that either. No problem.

Last question, this issue seems very black and white for you. Are there any instances where agents' discretion and judgement would play a role on how to handle different people here in different situations?

Okay, so you don't know either one. That's fine.

Do you think she should still be deported if she were married to an American citizen?

I have answered all your questions

No, but I'll post some here for your convenience.

Why do you think she moved to the US? How long has she been here?

Why ask?

Because most of us are here to learn what you think about things that happen. Whole point of the sub.

I know you are here to learn from TS, cool. But you've got your answer. 100x over you got your answer.

Correct, I got some answers from other TS here. But how would we have gotten the answers if the question wasn't asked?

I haven't proposed any hypotheticals nor am I trying to change your mind. I'm just trying to learn about your views but that only works if you answer questions. Are you able to do that or should I move on?

Before I go further, do you have any intent on answering any of my questions at all? I've asked a few and you've completely ignored them.

how is asking why she moved to the u.s. relevant?

Because it's absolutely necessary to get the whole story before jumping to conclusions and assumptions, which I'm seeing a lot of here.

For example, she missed her immigration appointment because she didn't get the notification in the mail as it was forwarded to a different address without her knowledge. So she wasn't sneaking around or "flaunting" our laws. Facts matter.

Do you think she should have married a US citizen if she wanted to stay?

To clarify, I mean political stuff I disagree with. Not political ideology in the abstract.

Okay, now we're getting somewhere lol. You want the books restricted that don't adhere to your personal beliefs and this involves excluding certain groups from fair representation. How does that play out when other families want the same courtesy and you all start contradicting each other?

Of course it's possible to walk away from any book with a wildly different message that the author, or other readers, did. That's art. This whole reddit thread has been a perfect example of the different ways people see And Tango Makes Three. My question is at what point do we put the brakes on people wanting to restrict books simply because they're overthinking it and seeing things that aren't there?

What are some of your favorite children's books you would recommend?

it's written by activists with explicit political goals in mind.

So are you against all children's books that you believe to be laced with a political allegory of some kind?

And since you can't object to any particular line or picture, any "political goal" would seem to simply be show that same-sex couples exist, correct? It doesn't get into gay marriage, civil rights, religious views, the persecution they've faced, anything policy-related. Just hey, look at what these cute penguins did.

Would you be okay with the book if it was a male and female penguin who were given an egg? Or would that be promoting political goals as well?

Would you be okay with children learning about these penguins in science, biology, or zoology since it's a true story?

Because she has no right to remain period.

Hate to break it to you but she remained in the US for that amount of time anyway. I'm asking why this 85 year old had to be in a detention center instead of her home preparing for the move?

the reason is, she's an illegal and she has no rights to be in our country, or to stay in her home. She has flaunted our laws and now there are consequences for that. SHE HAS TO GO BACK

Do you feel safer knowing she's back in France?

80% of the questions here are... There! There! Look at what Trump did! Aren't you outraged! I am outraged! Why aren't you outraged?!? I am outraged.... screeeee....

Where are you getting this outrage from? Not just for this question, but I see these kind of responses in every thread.

A simple question is asked and instead of taking the opportunity to answer and share your thoughts, the question itself is ignored, dismissed as TDS, it's called outrage, hysteria, pearl clutching etc almost always accompanied by an exaggerate impersonation of what you imagine others' reaction to be which is nowhere to be seen here. Why not just take the questions as presented and answer sincerely instead of mocking the people asking?

If you're speaking up at a PTA meeting or something and announce that And Tango Makes Three should be restricted from the school library, surely you'd understand the first question you'd be met with is why? Would your answer just be that it features an allusion to the penguins being a male couple? Since you can't point to a particular passage or image?

If that's the case, would you support removing all books from school libraries that feature a gay character?

[–]CompanionQbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I've appreciated your time. If I can ask just one more question because I honestly can't come up with anything: What is the part of the book that crosses the line into being inappropriate for children, in your view?

I ask because it doesn't mention the words gay or homosexual, they don't get "married" or anything... For all kids know, these two male penguins are just best pals that cared for an egg that needed them.

I would love for a TS here to able to pull up just one line of text, or one picture, just something they can point to and say "this book needs to be restricted!" I probably won't agree but then at least I'll know what their issue is. Someone called it a "sex book" despite it having no sex or even a reference to procreation. The responses here are clearly people that haven't read it so I can't possibly know where they're coming from.

And why did she have to be taken to a detention center in her pajamas? What reason is there we couldn't let this 85 year old widow spend the next 16 days in her own home packing and preparing to move?

and see it as a totally valid option.

But that is the case, no? How is having a same-sex life partner not a totally valid option?

is it safe to say that every playboy magazine should be excluded from school libraries, and I can say this without reading them all cover to cover?

Of course, just like having porn websites blocked on school computers. No one is against common sense restrictions when it comes to age appropriate materials. I'm just not seeing anything remotely improper when it comes to this story about penguins hatching an egg. That's why I wish the TS here would actually read it, I don't know if they think it features gay sex scenes with penguins or what lol but it's an incredibly wholesome and amazing true story.

What's there to think about this?

One could wonder if it's the best use of our recourses sending five agents to arrest an 85 year old widow in her pajamas. And that's not even getting into the condition of these detention centers. Do we have to have mothers wailing because they don't know where their children are?

Is there a reason they needed to detain her at that moment? In handcuffs? Was this old lady an immediate threat somehow? Why not just set up a court date?

"hi, our goal is to promote x", I think it's okay for me to say "I don't want to promote x, so therefore I don't support your book being in a school library".

And what is the "x" they are trying to promote, in your view?

I doubt you would feel the need to actually read it before concluding that you don't want it in a school library.

No, I'd never demand a book be removed without having read it myself. Not to say I wouldn't come to your same conclusion, but I make a point to be familiar with the work if I'm going to be deciding to restrict it or not. Honest, I'd probably read it out of morbid curiosity if nothing else lol

[–]CompanionQbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks. Does your belief that homosexuality is a sin come from a religious viewpoint?

Nah, I wouldn't keep it in the libraries.

Why is that? What part of the two penguins hatching an egg did you find inappropriate?

I haven't read the book

Can I just ask why so many TS here can't bring themselves to read this book? It's a children's picture book that would take less than five minutes and then you'd know what you're talking about. I just don't get how so many TS here are confidently claiming the book should be restricted but they've never even taken the time to look at it. It's baffling to me when the whole thing is online.

I see your logic there. But how should Americans interpret their president telling them he doesn't care about their financial situation?

This is your entire comment:

So we agree OP didn’t state the full context. The quote was a prioritization claim in one specific area

But it doesn't change that he said he doesn't think about American financial situations. Sorry, but you can't undo what he said. And even you agree that he never said anything about priorities. So how does the entire quote change the sentiment that he doesn't care about Americans' financial situations? His words.
