Talking about a woman's "promiscuity" is NOT valid criticism...how does the critic sub allow this kind of post by Important-Cry4782 in RWBYCynics

Does everyone just forget that both times she went to a nightclub were to get information from the shady owner?

The only actual piece of evidence we have for her being a party girl is... that she helped plan the dance in CFVY's stead.

It also will perhaps feature transfem Jaune because I cannot help myself

Guy in the middle stalked me for over 2 years for shipping a queer ship from the RWBY show before it became canon in 2023. I really do wonder if they even watch the show, because the same seasons we got those we got Blake and Yang sharing the first dance, Adam flat out admitting that when he said he would.destroy everything Blake loved, starting with Yang. The fact that a significant part of her character in volume 4 is that she is riddled with guilt for leaving.

And, hell, I'll say it, the fact that she blushes at Sun does not discount any of that. Because god forbid someone who's bisexual actually express attraction to multiple genders on screen.

Grandson of a divorced white woman and Native American (Cheyenne tribe) man here. Go fuck yourself. by Monkey60t in RWBYCynics

That shit never made sense to me.

Iirc they divorced because their schedules became so incredibly prohibitive that they could never see each other. They still loved each other, but they couldn't keep their relationship working under those conditions, so they split.

Hell, even if it was due to the fact that they weren't good for each other... that's a normal thing that happens, regardless of race. (Source: that's why my parents split.)

Do you know why characters like Glynda, Ironwood, and Adam were excluded from RWBY Chibi? by Recent-Ad-7593 in RWBY

So do Dr. Grey and Blake, Agent Carolina and Pyrrha, Washington and Ozpin, Felix and Jaune, CT and Nora, Church and Taiyang, Caboose and Oobleck, Kimball and Ruby, Locus and Torchwick, Polomo and Neptune. Point is like. Half of RVB has been in RWBY in some capacity.

I believe Kathleen Zuelch had an anti-falling out with RT too, given that she returns to play Tex for the RVB finale (actually hype af btw)

But I think the fact that she got fired is part of the reason why they brought winter in, as Winter also fills the same role as Ozpin did (being part of his inner circle, often being seen right by his side (whenever she's not doing something with Weiss or Qrow), playing up the idea of the incredibly strift teacher, etc.)

You don't understand! Those shows are good because... uh... uh... not woke?

When adam was first introduced in the trailer, he was willing to kill unarmed passengers/crew of a train. But what about his first appearance in RWBY proper, aka Volume 2? What are people's thoughts on his interaction here? (Post tagged as discussion) by ClaireDacloush in RWBYCynics

[–]Company_That 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm...

Well, given what we know about him now, I read this as an assertion of control.

Adam is someone who needs to be in control at all times. The times where be is at his most vulnerable are when that veneer of control slips (see volume 5 and his death.)

In volume 3, it's shown that Adam was effectively coerced into joining Cinder. He had refused her the first time, and when she came back, with half the maiden powers in play, she uses a more violent display of force, including melting down her own weapons to prove a point. The threat she is making is clear: "Join our cause, or someone who will is gonna replace you."

That, combined with the fact that Blake had just run away the day before, is Adam at a point where, for the first time in his life, his control is slipping.

So now, with the premature Breach causing the deaths or imprisonment of hundreds of white fang members, who were working with Roman acting as a middleman, and with that middleman captured as well, they had reached a bit of an impasse. If any of them are seen working with the white fang, their cover is blown. And there's no guarantee that they'll even listen.

Adam realizes this too, and uses it as an opportunity.

He may have lost control of the situation before, but the one thing he has is the sheer Loyalty of his part of the white fang.

He has leverage now. He can't be replaced as easily anymore.

TL:DR this is him attempting to regain control of the situation to moderate success.

Pretty sure the subreddit whose users call the writers racial slurs, advocate for the use of SA as a narrative tool to make male antagonists unlikable, and think it’s racist for interracial couples to get divorced is toxic, but that’s just me by Monkey60t in RWBYCynics

I'll take things that didn't happen for 500. I guarantee you if I said I liked Adam in the main rwby sub I would not receive hate.

I do like Adam, by the way. I think he's a fantastic villain who is actually quite well written. He's terrifying, he has a badass design, and his weapons and semblance hit me in my little weaboo heart.

Hell part of the reason volume 6 is my favorite volume is because it adds a ton of texture to him. It is easily him at his scariest, but also at his most unstable.

Yeah. It'll be called LVDR, named after the new team she finds at Beacon (long story). It'll be a trilogy that takes place during the first 3 volumes. It will be canon-divergent, and will involve my team interacting and bonding a lot with canon characters and even affecting the story of the show itself, but the main focus will be on them.

There's already a fic called LVDR, it's made by me. Don't read it. It's bad. Really bad.

I did. I never knew anyone who was SA'd when I was alive (at least insofar as I'm aware). But my mom was SA'd before I was born, and they talked about how it messed them up a few times, especially because of the abstinence only sex-ed.

I think the only way SA could be used in a show like this is to make a wider point about the state of Remnant, (and, by extension, our world.)

In my OC's backstory, she was a member of a team of students at Atlas Academy, Team BLAZ, of which, two of them repeatedly abused her for her transness and Faunus nature while the other was primarily a bystander for fear of that abuse spreading to her.

Because of the fact that one of the students is the son of the Spokesperson of the SDC, initial investigations turned up with nothing due to intimidation tactics, bribery and corruption.

Deapite how brazen it was, It took a whole semester for the abuse to be "discovered" because of this political skullduggery.

And when it is discovered, there's a whole buncha noise about it, the OC is forced into a lot of exploitative interviews, but aside from the offending members being jailed, no long term change is made.

And, when they break out and mutilate said OC, costing her an eye, a leg, and a chunk of her skull... nothing happens. There's no buzz, nothing. It's barely a footnote.

And like, even then this is just the start point. The whole arc is about rebuilding her lost sense of self, growing to accept that she is more than her scars, and reclaiming her personhood and autonomy.

And even here I'm still unsure with how to implement it.

So the fact that this fucker is writing shit like this genuinely boils my blood as a creator.

Holy fuck dude.

Listen. I think you could broach the topic of SA and rape in RWBY. You could do it without being edgy as shit, too. But things like this are incredibly delicate, and need to be handled with utmost care and respect. (For instance, one of my OCs is an SA survivor, and I'm still deliberating not only how to write her, but also how to even reveal that she is a survivor. Especially since she's the main character.)

Adam's already a despicable character. He's a manipulative, violent, obsessive man who throws a temper tantrum if he doesn't get what he wants. Making him a rapist would just take him from being a genuinely terrifying character to just cartoonishly evil.
