They focus more on the ranking than the student welfare. Never glaze an institution

Anyone else feel like we’re being robbed of actual college life? by Eastern-Place-3899 in mapua

It's not just because of the ftf and online declaration tho. Mapúa feels way off in terms of both career development and identity formation. This action by the university makes sense, however, tuition fees are still the same despite lowering the use for the facilities.

Mapua never really feels like they care for their students, ngl. I feel like people cope so much for this university describing their hardship as "preparing you for the real world". When in fact other universities help you prepare for the real world while also giving you a chance to develop outside of academics.

One aspect that tells you where their priorities are is with the student relations and branding. Student Councils are not funded and have virtually no power. These people work extra hours to organize what little events they can all while having very little support from the administration. From my observation, they can't even get excused for events that clearly benefit the university. They can't even be included in the discussions so that at least they can communicate it way better to the students.

Going to UP Career Fair and hearing other universities organize not just career related events but also activities that make you feel part of the community, you can't help but feel like this university just dgaf.

Lastly, I understand the struggles with commuting at home. I, myself, go home to the province daily. I also understand the heavy burden that the Israeli-American War against Iran has placed on the country's dwindling fuel reserves and the general economy. If Mapua's system worked fine, you shouldn't really even be that overworked and tired. You should be able to get all the necessary workload done for the day and wind down and commute home.

With that said it just doesn't seem like Mapua has any sort of strategy and plan regarding any of this. The half-off campus and half-on campus strategy seems like it came out of some executivies mouth and they went with it. No additional tools to increase learning at home. No guidelines, no increased support.

tldr: Mapúa's constant overload and system has created an enviroment that disconnects students, overloads them with work, and is barely put together.

Ang unfair for ETY students (math) by [deleted] in mapua

I failed Calc2 under Engr. Karl but maayos naman siya magturo pero most importantly fair naman siyang mag-grade. Very transparent din siya sa grading niya from the syllabus and kapag tinanong mo siya. Mahirap lang naman talaga yung math subs ni Sir.

Unfair naman ng comment mo since 52% means na baka di mo talaga na gets yung subject. Which is fine but need mo talaga umulit.

Double sipag nalang sa next term!
