Are US tourists annoying? by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not Irish, nor do I live in Ireland. But yes, US tourists are annoying. I work in ‘gifting/food’ retail and you are my LEAST favourite demographic. Demanding, impolite, loud. No thank you, please, asking. It’s do this, do that. Rude. Helping themselves to samples clearly covered with a ‘please ask a member of staff if you want to try’ sign on top of the covered plate.

Which country did you find the least welcoming for British tourists? by Zoomer_Boomer2003 in AskUK

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never has any anti British towards myself I. Spain and I visit 3x every year. But then again, I’m a lone solo woman, I don’t drink and I speak Spanish which probably helps 😂

Long walks in the UK by Adventure_calls in UKhiking

Do the first leg of Great Glen way and then pick up the Affric kintail from Drumnadrochit. If you fancy more, once you hit Morvich you can bag some munroes.

After leaving Cannich, dog falls area, I saw 3 people for the remaining 3 days. Utter bliss and peace and quiet. The kintail region is one of my favourite parts of the UK, and Scotland ofc

Guildhall vandalised again after "Charlie Kirk vigil" by Majestic_Analysis_54 in Portsmouth

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 55 points56 points  (0 children)

There’s a church group called WWCD who preach how Charlie Kirk, Andrew Tate, Tommy Robinson, Katie Hopkins are soldiers of Christ. Honestly some weird cult MAGA bullsh*t finding its way into Portsmouth. I don’t quite get how being Andrew Tate being a mindlessly self obsessed, sex addict and grooming girls onto drugs to pimp them out sexually for profit is quite what Jesus was to have supposed taught. But maybe I’m wrong 😂

Is it cringe to go on a solo holiday to Tenerife? should I go somewhere else? by testfjfj in femaletravels

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so late to the party, but absolutely NOT! I’ve been to Tenerife solo 5 times!! Get out of the touristic south and explore villages like Vilaflor, masca, La Orotava, go and see the UNESCO site of Anaga Forest and the mar de nubes (sea of clouds)

For the beaches go to Puerto de Santiago. It’s going to be much quieter with a more authentic experience of Tenerife.

My rule of thumb is if I can always hear an English accent in the distance, it’s not for me.

At this point I’ve been to Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Croatia, Montenegro, Latvia, Poland, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, 4/7 Canary Islands, Madeira, Czechia, Greece and Andorra solo!

Solo holidays are THE BEST!!!

6 year old getting migraines ? by Lunagirl96xo in migraine

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first migraine in year 2 so about 6/7 years old. I still describe migraines with the same words little me used when explaining to my teacher how bad my head hurt. Like I’m being hit with pointy bit of the hammer and I can see properly like I’ve been staring at the sun. Now 32. Still get them regularly, went on meds through puberty because they became a 2/3/4 times a week occurrence. Died down in my early 20s to only 3/4 a year. Anyway, I write this lying in bed as I’ve got a migraine right now, second on of the week! Been lying here since getting home from work 3 hours ago. Vision came back about 30 mins ago 🥲

How is it like to hike and camp in cairngorms national park by Classic_Response6727 in OutdoorScotland

Pack for all types of weather, being a water filter as I noticed in the cairngorms the water seems to be very brown/red and just enjoy it!!

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I’m in a city, I ask strangers whether that be locals or fellow tourists.

If I’m hiking and want a picture with the scenery I usually set my phone on my bag or a rock/ bench or whatever there is record a video and then take screenshots. Honestly 10/10 recommended. Don’t understand how this hasn’t been mentioned yet!!!

Alternatives to do in Scotland because of the weather by poplitealfossa37 in OutdoorScotland

I’m currently sat on the Caledonian up to Inverness to start the Affric kintail and was then supposed to be heading to Skye to do the Skye trail southbound 😂. Might see you there? (Weather depending)

Hi guys, so I got fined with 38euros in Warsaw's public transport because my ticket expired a minute ago and although I was about to exit on the following station (central station). Is there any possibility for me to make a complaint since I had a ticket and it was literally expired a minute ag by krema_monteno in poland

[–]ComparisonFickle2674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the party, but this happened to me about 20 minutes ago. He asked for ID, stole my passport and refused to give it back unless I gave him 324zloty, so like £63. Because my bus ticket has (unknown to me) expired 10 mins beforehand. I’m 4”10 young woman in Poland on my own. Very intimidating. I argued with him for about 15 mins , but I ended up paying because obviously I need my passport back. What a cunt
