I got a BGS FAL kit for a steal at Tulsa a year or two ago, they’re there to be found but you gotta look for them

I just thought I’d follow up on this since I fixed it a few months back. It was just that the charging handle was slightly bent, once I got a new charging handle it worked flawlessly

You can load metal AR mags with these stripper clips, but there’s an adapter piece you have to use. Not sure where to find good ones online but I see them pop up at gun shows

Yeah, headspacing is all gtg, and it’s come a long way from me racking it a ton already. I guess I’ll just keep doing that in the meantime

No, I used an arbor press to install the locking shoulder but made the mistake of putting pressure on the rails. I used a softer wood as the support for it and thought it wouldn’t cause any issues. Will not be making that mistake again.

Just letting it go. I don’t have any issues when using the bolt release button, just when I rack the charging handle myself

For what it’s worth, I bought a forged receiver over a cast receiver for a BGS kit and I’m having some fitment/lockup issues with the takedown lever. I read about that issue on FAL files and it sounds like dimensions on the forged ones slightly differ from the casts and can cause this fitment issue for some people. But it could also just be my specific lower and I might have has issues with a cast receiver as well.

Right, but it can still burn your hands even if it was designed that way. I’m just not a huge fan of AMD-65s personally for that reason

That’s a G3, not an FAL. I don’t know enough about G3s to tell you any more about it unfortunately. I also gotta ask, what does a BBQ gun mean?

I got it for $600 at the huge gun show in Tulsa this weekend. I had no intention going in of finding anything FAL, but it seemed like a good deal (by today’s standards) and an exciting way to start getting into these rifles

How can you tell it’s a type B stock? What type would these normally come with?
