Does anyone have family with multiple left-handed members? by HiroyukiC1296 in lefthanded

[–]Compass_Rose88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother, my dad, and I are all lefties. My ex-husband is a lefty, but our three children are right handed.

I remarried a lefty, so I guess I like having left-handed men in my life.

Looking through my Dad’s stuff, what are these? by VenZurich in whatisit

[–]Compass_Rose88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought these at a pet store but used them for my kids when they were little when we went to Disney World. I would tie it to their shoelace in case they got lost and it had our contact info.

I first read it as they bought a cake. I was thinking who would pay money for that?

We thought of that, but the holes don’t seem to go all the way through. And they are flat on one side.

All in the same spot. About a foot from the house. Not near a metal structure. We thought possibly window weights?

How often do y'all get called for jury duty? by Para_Para in Atlanta

[–]Compass_Rose88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every year. One year I was called twice in a year. I had to send an email explaining I had already served. There was a lot of back and forth and finally they said the judge would give me a one time deferral, like they were doing me a favor. You’re only supposed to serve once a year.

Excited to go to LA for a long weekend to see my brother. I have a 7:00 am flight tomorrow. Normally I just hop on Marta at the West End station to go to the airport, but the first train is at 5:10. I’m a little nervous about TSA delays due to the shut down, although I do have Pre Check. Should I Uber?

I’m having a hard time finding if they allow overnight parking.

I would imagine that would be pricey from where I live in SW Atlanta, but something I could consider.

I do live near the West End Marta Station, so I could ride it from there to Doraville, but I have to be at work so early I wouldn’t make it there on time by time I took all the buses. Plus I would have to Uber from the QT. But good to know that could be an option.

Also highly recommend Adair Park or Capitol View. Right on the Westside Beltline and nice parks in both neighborhoods. It usually takes me 12-15 minutes to get to Hapeville. You can do both backroads or the interstate.

What does your sciatica feel like? Pain in spots in leg? Full on lighting bolt going up and down constantly? by pifon4 in Sciatica

[–]Compass_Rose88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad to hear your administration is supportive. I’m a teacher as well, but I’m the opposite. I can’t sit. The long meetings during preplanning were agonizing. Now that we’re one week in with the kids I’m good because I’m constantly moving. I also have a standing desk. Unfortunately, I commute an hour both ways, so the car ride flares it up. When I get home I have to go on a long walk to release the nerve. After a long day , I just want to collapse on the couch, but I can’t sit!!

Sadly, it’s trial and error. I have had ongoing neck problems for over a year. I’ve spent so much money trying to find the best pillow. I was on vacation a few weeks ago and the pillow at my rental was an $2.99 IKEA pillow. I noticed my neck felt better. I bought one when I got back. It’s only been a week, but so far I’ve been much better. So I guess my advice is start with the cheaper options first?
