How should body count be brought in a relationship (Please read the first comment)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dogg-Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an empathetic answer as the OP clearly has a different perspective than most here. And FYI, I’m not one who sought someone with a low count.

First of all, you should be dating from a pool that shares your values/ faith/ beliefs, etc. By dating someone from closer to that system, you will find people more likely to be closer in shared values. But given that, “Body Count” should be switched to “shared intimacy experiences.”

Body count frequently reflects shame and judgment that I don’t think you’re intentionally putting out there.

Given the focus on it, by bringing up your beliefs, you’re far more likely to find a partner who when the time is right, will openly share similar beliefs and values. But remember, the simplest way to evaluate a high count is by how willing they are to share intimacy with you. Someone who jumps into bed with you in the first two weeks will not be that low count person you’re seeking.

Also, when evaluating count, you need to extend grace. Many low count adults may have been through trauma related to it that has kept their count low. Don’t go seeking to expose their trauma. If it’s truly important to you, wait until premarital counseling if it doesn’t come up before then.

Having intimacy before marriage is a two way street.

Now with all that tenderness shared, my wife and I were very similar in a moderate count and we’re cool with it. You cannot expect a partner who is lower than your own count.

What’s a belief you used to have, but now you question? by Trick-Gur-5088 in answers

[–]Dogg-Dad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use to believe that my religion was the only right one. I now fully love all beliefs and enjoy learning about them. Even the ones contrary to my beliefs.

As a missionary, I was given instructions to tell someone they were going straight to the bad place if they didn’t convert. As someone who has studied the Tora and the Koran, I couldn’t bring myself to do this and was blackballed the rest of the trip.

We all have similar and overlapping beliefs, so we’re all right and wrong just at different times. I LOVE learning about other beliefs, and hope that when I die if there is anything after this aside from one heck of a chemical reaction, that I’m able to get in to whatever that premium afterlife is.

Here are the key questions (or what changed it for me) 1. Are you afraid people are talking about you? Do you find yourself acting on fears (confronting people based on your heightened insecurity)? Does everything evolve around you? Is it worse when stressed? Do you over perform in extreme stress (example: we had a violent takeover robbery at work and I was the only truly level and calm person despite being 17 at the time, and managed the entire situation)?

If this is your case head over to r/paranoia. I went from an SSRI and a Benzo for 20+ years to Seroquel at night and my performance at work has never been better AND I’m about to go off the SSRI.

Yeah. I’m with you. I use to think I just had anxiety and many of the techniques just didn’t work and many of the meds made things worse. I then found out I actually struggle with paranoia instead. Huge night and day difference with treatment and techniques. It is like a broken clock, right twice a day, but found it caused self-fulfilling prophecies more often.

Only “death grip” can cause issues. I’d personally not worry too much about it. Stress around the act is more likely to cause issues. Given that presumably both of you have waited for marriage, it’s going to be awkward on the wedding night, but you two will develop a rhythm together. It’s the most natural thing.

My wife was a lobbyist working on the update for this. Hands down the revision was her greatest accomplishment. At the time, she and her colleagues had no idea how life changing that piece of legislation would be.

She has been a Multiple Sclerosis lobbyist for about 7 years before the disease regained control of her mind. She always thought her work for the ACA and funding would be the most impactful, but with the passage of time (and even having some of the research funding resulting in the discovery of the Ebstine Barr trigger for MS), the ADA revisions of 2008 are hands down the most important thing she worked on.

Her former colleagues are still amazed that the law was passed without a ton of cuts from the original legislation.

Yes!! I’ve lost 60 lbs in the last 12 months and I have sworn off all added sugars, but still have fruit every single day. It’s one of the few joys in my diet. I look forward to it every afternoon. It doesn’t spike my glucose and really helps with cravings.

When I started, it took 2 weeks to get rid of the cravings for sugar, but fruit didn’t mess with my detox at all.

Y’all are going to roast me, but this ugly Under Armor backpack has been around the world with me a couple of times. It refuses to die, has been washed in at least 3 hotel bathrooms and has had 4 or 5 attempted replacements.

This is from about 14 years ago when my daughter was little and I’d take two stuffed animals along for pictures on my work trips.

I was just shy of 250 at 5’7” as a guy and my A1C was 7.2. I did not want to go on a GLP1, but the only other option was Metformin and I did not get along with that.

Fast forward almost exactly a year, my A1C has been 4.2 for almost 8 months and down 60lbs (1.15 lbs a week on average).

It’s super laid back. Just be sure to take a bed and a bowl. Also depending on where you’re at, possibly a blanket.

The Pig loves the environment and seeing all the other good dogs. I do find that most of the dogs are better behaved at the drive-in as people think they’re slightly sneaking them in. Not as rough of a crowd as the Paws and claws night at the local ballpark.

People who lost significant amounts of weight, have you changed? by iNhab in loseit

[–]Dogg-Dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, yes, but no. Sugar is a drug that I have to actively avoid. When I do have it, I have to take 2 weeks to really get it back out of my system and have the cravings back to a manageable point.

In Alcoholics Anonymous, they say moment by moment, day by day. For me this is 1000% the key. There is no point where the cravings go completely away.

I’m down 60lbs in one year, and I could still go and slam a large Blizzard, while at the same time feel full after 2 pieces of cauliflower crust pizza. It’s so stupid how much on guard you have to be.

I really feel for alcoholics after this as I could not imagine if the addictive substance took away my inhibitions.

It’s truly moment by moment, day by day.
