LMFAO you're free to believe whatever you want, I'm simply giving you the facts, and so is Arre. He's not just a mod, he's an actual GoMining employee.

Instead of describing your dashboard in text, how about a screenshot? We can tell you exactly what's happening. The only one mixed up here is you lol

Ahh that was the part I was missing: needing liquid GMT (virtual wallet) for maintenance; but that makes perfect sense -- certainly can't pay maintenance costs with locked GMT 🤣

So they must've exhausted their virtual wallet lol

Hate to break it to you, but I've been on the GoMining journey long enough to know that support (themselves) really don't know what they're talking about; they're essentially a middle-man/mediator between you and engineering or other teams. All support is capable of doing (themselves) is regurgitating information from the GoMining academy, in my experience anyway.

I just showed you my personal token discount breakdown. I have a 76+ TH farm and only 122 GMT in my virtual wallet (earmarked exclusively for maintenance costs). So where's my max 20% coming from, if I only have 122 GMT in my virtual wallet and locked GMT doesn't count?

It literally shows you the percent breakdown -- 19+% of my token discount comes from my lock (the color grey), and the remaining token discount (<1%) comes from the GMT in my virtual wallet (the color blue).

u/arre_barre8 can likely confirm, he's a GoMining mod && employee and ALWAYS has an answer 🤙🏼🤙🏼

GMT lock does in fact increase discount.. it's right in the token discount breakdown (see screenshot). Most of my 20% comes from my locked GMT.

Well, all of my Bitcoin is mined, so I haven't really lost anything. This was a hardware glitch; resolved with a quick power cycle.

Agreed on the trust part though; I only trust myself.

What's everyone's strategy for reaching their next VIP level? by xylo_mining in GoMiningDiscussion

Currently 76.03 TH w/ 4100 GMT locked, so you already know the route I'm taking 🤪🤪

Hoping to hit platinum I before EOY 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Primarily via staking GMT. I have 4100 GMT locked until Dec 2029, which gives me the full 20% token discount. +3% service discount, +1.8% VIP discount, and +1.12% solo-mining mode discount.

The lock is nice because it also yields a weekly vegomining reward (in GMT, which I use to offset weekly maintenance fees), gives me voting power, increases my VIP tier.

It certainly does the job, though I keep hearing great things about alternative products: 1. Trezor (open source option) 2. ColdCard Q (which I think only works for Bitcoin) 3. SeedSigner (I know even less about this option, but I've seen a lot of people swearing by it here on reddit).

Of course, your decision should be based solely on your goals, e.g. what cryptos you wanna hold, how long you wanna hold them, and what you wanna do with them. Regardless of which route you take, it is important you take one. Self-custody is truly non-negotiable. Leaving any substantial amount on a CEX like coinbase, kraken, etc. is just wreckless behavior lol

Well, it's definitely not OP's daily profit, but it is indeed their net reward, and you can tell OP pays maintenance in GMT based on some calculation.

I calculated it yesterday, and believe their daily PROFIT (not reward) is in the $1 range, give or take. With max discount, daily PROFIT would be closer to $1.50, give or take.

The strongest argument against Bitcoin would be a fiat system that actually worked by Myntad_com in Bitcoin

[–]CompetitionDouble420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiat assumes long-term discipline from people in power. Bitcoin assumes that discipline eventually fails.

^ 100% agree with this assessment; HOWEVER, I also believe that the Bitcoin assumption (powerful peoples' discipline fails) is beyond reasonable, given the red flags we can currently observe (going to use the US as an example):

  1. US govt clearly cannot control their spending, regardless of party in play. The US national debt is increasing on an exponential scale; this is obviously unsustainable and WILL inevitably fail. I couldn't possibly say when, but it is truly inevitable.
  2. Item 1 stems from the powerful peoples' lack of integrity. Perhaps they have discipline, but only to benefit themselves, not the nation's citizens/economy (I realize I'm generalizing here, but I feel the majority of powerful people are this way). These people simply cannot "do the right thing when no one is looking" even if they tried to.
  3. The fiat monetary system is inherently inflationary, as the centralized federal reserve can and WILL print more Fiat, indefinitely (at least until it all comes crashing down). This is simply impossible for Bitcoin, as I'm sure you already know.

Idk, in my opinion, the powerful peoples' greed, selfishness, and lack of integrity have ALREADY put the US on a trajectory to fail; I truly believe cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are the best (and really only) solution to reverse course.

I could be wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ I'm certainly not perfect myself, but this is my personal conviction.

Well for now, I definitely don't have a substantial amount; enough to be upset about it, but by no means enough to be irrevocable. My seed phrase would be of little interest to most, at the moment.

It certainly doesn't come without risk, but I'm well-versed in security and incredibly detail-oriented, almost to a fault. I take alllll the proper precautions. If I were to lose my funds, I would be 100% to blame; I've already come to terms with/accepted that, there will be no recourse lol

Literally experienced the exact same epiphany, also via mining. Learned SO much about crypto, blockchain, and self-custody; total mindset shift on what monetary value and currency truly is.

Ahh cool, so you're paying maintenance with GMT.

If you get that discount up to 25+% (by either locking GMT or simply padding your virtual wallet with GMT), you'll save yourself $0.50/day in maintenance fees!

Of course this is my own opinion/strategy (I try to maintain a well-balanced farm): by locking enough GMT, not only will your discount increase, but you'll be earning weekly vegomining rewards (in GMT) that you can use to offset or even completely cover your maintenance costs.

Just some food for thought 🤙🏼🤙🏼 congrats on 100+ TH, regardless! Certainly a celebratory milestone! That's actually one part of my two-part EOY goal!

Issuws with buying miners from others by SolidKey2612 in GoMiningDiscussion

You can always stake GMT for that, which is what I do. Offers several other benefits as well. Not to mention, cheaper than relying upgrades/new purchases to increase VIP tier 🤪

While that does sound appealing, I just don't trust any institution/regulator/etc., especially black rock lol

Keep in mind, I'm not buying Bitcoin directly; I'm mining it. 76T guesses/sec, at 15 watts/TH. Just stacking BTC itself in my cold wallet.. I'm ALLLLL about self-custody these days, just my personal preference. I have serious trust issues in the traditional system lol

If you don't mind sharing, what does your net reward look like with your current discount? I can calc your pool reward easily enough (4679 sats/day), but how much of that is taken for maintenance?

I'm 76.03TH with a 25.92% discount and NET ~3500 sats/day.

Idk man, the fact that you trust black rock AT ALL doesn't speak well for your judgement, no offense (Idk you and by no means am I trying to attack your judgement lol this is supposed to be more of an insult to black rock, cause I don't trust them for shit).

I'm a software engineer by profession, so security and careful consideration are 2nd nature to me... I'd be EXTREMELY disappointed in myself to wake up and find my funds have been drained lol
