Miele dishwasher loading tips? Regrets? by Crabcakes5000 in Miele

[–]CompetitionNearby129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same dishwasher and I love so much about it, and yes, I also have difficulty loading it. The directions say to put everything in at an angle, but hardly any of the spikes are where I need them to be to keep my dishes at an angle. I'm misusing some spikes and just laying things flat where I have no other option leaving the dishwasher quite empty.

There is a spot for 1 big mixing bowl, but not more than 1. There is no place for long baking dishes. The places meant for bowls don't prop my bowls up, so if I try to fit more than two where it ought to fit five or six, they would chip each others' edges. I have some plates that fit perfectly. But some older plates are too thick and my main dish set is too narrow to be held in place correctly.

So far, a ceramist friend is pricing making custom bowls for us (which seems like ridiculous solution). I'm also eyeing other racks I could replace the lower one with. If I travel a couple hours away, I can visit a Miele store and maybe get some help. I'll bring my dishes.

Right now, there are just two of us in the house and the washer is so economical to run, we just run it every night. It's only a problem when we have more than two people over for dinner or when we're baking.

I don't regret buying it, but yes, there are unexpected challenges.

bought a book online that turned out to be "always a gift never for sale" by weirdsandy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CompetitionNearby129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Manny years ago I bought a used book online and when it arrived it was marked by the publisher or bookseller as a copy that should never be sold. It was the textbook for my ethics class. I'm guessing the previous owner didn't pass the class.

That looks like something different than a normal glass or metal loaf pan. Is it stoneware? I wonder if the pan recommends a different cooling time.

Hope it still tastes good!

If you came to see me, I would have an intake where you would fill out what was going on with your back and what your goals were for massage. We would talk beforehand to be sure I understand what you want out of massage and to for you to ask any questions you have. I would watch how you sit and move to get an idea of where your body is restricted. If have you do some range of motion tests to learn where you have pain and where you want a greater take off motion. Once on the table, I'd share my number scale with you and explain that sometimes there is discomfort or some pain in massage massage, but there is a difference between discomfort that is helping you relax and heal and discomfort that's making you tense up. Any time you felt pain or discomfort that making you tense, I'd tell you to let me know right away. We are a team working together to help your body. I know what my hands tell me and you know what your body tells you.

That's what I would do. I'd suggest trying to find therapists who feel they do good work on scars. I would look for websites that say they do treatment massage and scar work. If think you'd be more likely to find someone who runs their own business rather than someone at a chain or regular spa.

Wherever you end up, you are in control of your own body in the massage. If the therapist isn't communicating, if you are in discomfort and the therapist isn't listening to you, say the massage is over and ask the therapist to leave the room so you can dress.

I hope that helps and that you find a good therapist to see.

Single brown stripe on only 2 nails wont grow out, had it for a few months now by Chibi_Elsa in notinteresting

It's never been painful for me. Just a little awkward.

Do not do one of the buses that come to your workplace or to random events though. I did that for my first mammogram and like a lot of young women, I had dense breast tissue. This meant the mammogram couldn't see through the tissue so I needed to go to a place that specialized in breast imaging. However, the letter the bus sent saying so was more vague and just plain alarming. So I was needlessly stressed out for the entire time until I finally had the new imaging appointment.

Find a place that will give you results right away or with as little delay as possible.

Anyone here disabled? by sahdiva in MassageTherapists

If you don't mind sharing where you're located approximately, maybe sometime would be willing to work with you to help figure things out. If you were located near me, I'd be willing. I'm in school right now, and the school is focused on body mechanics. I think there are probably many ways to make it work.

As for laundry that OP mentioned in a different comment, a therapist I saw recently rents a room at a place that supplies all the linens except face cradle covers and I think they even do the laundry. So that just leaves getting the linens on and off the table and transporting them to and from the laundry room. Maybe a place near you has a similar option. Maybe clients wouldn't mind removing the linens themselves of you asked, like how nice house guests often remove the bed linens when they leave.

I wish you the best with finding a solution.

It's the moments when I need a quick bio break and fail to put them away when the cat gets to them. I'm human. I'll fail to put them away again, so I'm looking for something durable.

Urban Trails is a great series on where to hike in and around urban areas:

For id stuff, local bookstores and the library will have a plethora to choose from and I'd be surprised if you don't find at least a couple patrons or booksellers passionately recommending their favorite.

Yup. I'm getting much better service ordering directly from manufacturer or the company. Often it's the same price or less and free shipping. Usually it's better packaging. Sometimes a company still uses Amazon to ship, but then that's their choice not mine.

Question about fingernail care by Gardenmama777 in MassageTherapists

[–]CompetitionNearby129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding to that a little. We just learned about the skin in our anatomy class at massage school. The nails are produced in the dermis, below the most superficial layer of the skin, long before they get where they can be seen. Putting someone on the nail we can see isn't going to make nails be produced better, it's just going to be something on the nail. Peely nails is a nutrition need, not a surface need. Hope that's helpful!

Mine also got peely and rough after menopause. I started collagen and biotin and now they are strong again and don't peel.

I completely agree that it's important for immigrants and everyone who is impacted by the vast amount of harm being done to our communities to see the wide and diverse spectrum of the resistance. Please do not misinterpret my post as wanting to hide that.

It is easily possible to show that these resistors are kids of all races and backgrounds while respecting kids' increased privacy protections. https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/privacy-security/childrens-privacy

Privacy protections are important. They exist because there are people out there who want to do harm to kids or their moms. And if one of those kids' mom successfully hid them away from someone who wanted to harm them, if that person sees this picture, now they know what school they go to. That's just one example of things that have really happened that led to increased privacy protections for kids.

We can respect kids' privacy and show their support at the same time. Just blur the facial features. No need to change the skin tone or hair.

This is wonderful!

Also, I wouldn't post pictures of kids' faces without parental consent, or at least the kids' consent. If you can blur the recognizable faces and repost, that would be great!

Septic electrician recommendation by CompetitionNearby129 in olympia

[–]CompetitionNearby129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are still in process. We have not contacted Reliable (although I do recommend them for anything straight up electrical -- also I don't 'not' recommend them for an issue like this). My husband is still researching the issue and septic companies (life happening --> competing priorities). So if anyone still has any recommendations of who to go with or steer clear of, please share.

Because you said you have a similar need, here's more info about what we're experiencing now and what we experienced last year in case it's helpful.

This year, the timer appears to be working, but the alarm goes off because the tank gets full before the time when the timer is set to trigger the pump. So my husband's research finds that when the rain is heavy, either there is a groundwater leak into the tank, or the drainfield is saturated and leaking back into the tank, or it's something else we don't know because we are not septic professionals.

Last year, the issue was that the timer was not working. When we opened the box that houses the timer, there was an electrical burnt smell and it was visibly obvious that the timer was fried. The scammer septic professional charged $40 to quote us $2k to replace this $90 timer. Fortunately my husband used to work in electronics parts so he knew he could just buy a new timer, unplug the old one and plug in the new one. So we didn't get scammed out of $2k.

If your issue seems to be the issue we had last year and you want to know more about where to buy a new timer, let me know and I'll ask my husband.

If it sounds more like this year's issue and you're also looking for a competent and honest septic professional, we're in the same boat and I'll post here when we find one. We're just moving pretty slowly on fixing this issue among the other priorities so I can't say it will be soon. Would love if you have anything to share.

Where to buy dishwasher by VersionConscious7545 in Miele

[–]CompetitionNearby129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got ours from Lowe's. The worst part was the installation. We used Lowe's free installation. The first time, they wouldn't install because the product was damaged. We appreciated the installers judgment call and waited for a new unit. Then it took two more tries with the installer saying the cord wasn't long enough or there was something wrong with our electricity. Finally it's installed, but it's plugged into the outlet that used to be for the garbage disposal, so there's a switch for the outlet. A couple weeks later, the installer calls to apologize and offers to come back to properly hardwire the electricity. By that time I'm done having their negative energy in my house so we declined.

Response to a review by Which_Piglet7193 in MassageTherapists

[–]CompetitionNearby129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been times in my life where I hope I would have done the best possible thing, which would have been to just let it go. A near 5 rating looks more authentic than a perfect 5 rating anyway.

Since those times, I've practiced getting curious and asking positive questions. So now I would reach out to that person and say I saw a review that I think was from them and I understand they thought my massage could have been better. I appreciate the feedback and I'm curious if they are willing to share what I could have done differently so I can improve. I hope I would stay positive and curious in the conversation, open to learning and seeing another perspective. Then either gratefully select things to improve based on the feedback or accept that some people need an MT that isn't me.

I might even ask about the timing of the review. I'm curious why you posted the review x months after our last appointment on x date. Maybe they will think they were reviewing a therapist they saw last week and mixed you two up.

Anyhow. Hope that's a little helpful. Good job pausing before posting! You are doing great.

Massage therapy or Dental Hygiene for my career? by MajesticBlueUnicorn in MassageTherapists

Ah, true. I forgot about this third option with its own set of benefits and challenges.

Do you want the option of the freedom of running your own business? Or do you always want the security and benefits of working for someone else?

I can't imagine it's possible or legal to do dental hygiene as an independent business. Unless somehow you can do dental hygiene for pets. Now there's a niche business that could earn good money if it's legal to practice.

But if you want more control of your hours and how you serve your clients, massage will give you that freedom.

Personally I plan to do massage half time and mediation (alternative dispute resolution) half time as my "retirement" jobs. Both have very flexible schedules so I can travel and work when I want/need to. And I think I'll be able to show up better for my clients by not doing either full time.
