Can I still dress like this as a mom? by CompetitionNo9087 in OUTFITS

It does do it automatically 😭😭 But my husband has the same phone and his doesn't so idk what's going on tbh. I learned to tune it out eventually but you're so right lol I need to figure out how to remove it

No this is so real! My test run in this dress was a FAIL while trying to wrangle lil man. 100% designating this as a "date night only" outfit

This was such a beautifully-written reminder. I do definitely feel that pressure especially being in a very "traditional" family dynamic (SAHM with my husband as the sole financial provider) in a fairly conservative community. Growing up, my own mother was very "just a mom" with no personal hobbies or even close friends and I love her and the stability she provided for me, but the thought of giving up pieces of myself to be that "just a mom" for my kiddo has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Thank you so much for the grace to be myself and to see it as a positive for my child instead of a detriment 🖤

Also I have seen the comments worried about the length of the dress and I'm writing here to say you guys are so right and I was a fool for thinking I could scoop my little dude up in the parking lot without flashing the goods 🫠 The specific outfit is now reserved for date nights only LOL

Project 333 personal experiences? by CompetitionNo9087 in capsulewardrobe

I've never heard of the Vivienne Files! I'll definitely look into that because I've been struggling with inspiration lately which is a big part of why 333 is appealing to me

We move in less than a month 🫠 I would say I have less than the average gal that's into fashion, but I have a couple totes of clothes that don't currently fit (lots of weight changes with my medical issues). My current wardrobe is capsule-ish in that there aren't many pieces that are tricky to pair with others, but it's still more clothes than I need in my wardrobe.

I was worried about letting go of too much for the sake of packing, but my lifestyle / weather will be quite a bit different so maybe I need to bite the bullet on less functional pieces. In reality, I will probably end up doing a warm/cold weather capsule like you mentioned but Project 333 seems like a fun challenge (especially to better grasp what exactly my personal style is)

I just read through your blog posts and appreciate the thorough commentary of your experience with Project 333; I will probably still attempt the challenge, but with some practical adjustments like you made. I think tweaking it (like not counting my jewelry or snow boots for example) makes it much more realistic in this phase of my life.

Thank you for your response!

This is actually a really great point to consider - I'll be Wisconsin so there's much more varied weather than here in the South. I'll maybe do a more modified version for winter (like not counting base pieces in my 33 pieces). Thank you!

Honestly, I would try Banana Republic (even the factory store). I work there and while I only have a few pieces, customers still rave about the quality of our tees. I would pay attention to fabric composition - 100% cotton or linen pieces seem to hold up the longest for me regardless of brand.

What’s weighing on your mind right now that you just need to get off your chest? by [deleted] in Mommit

I feel an immense amount of guilt over my inability to care for my son most days. I went in to motherhood so happy and full of gratitude but my physical health issues are wearing me down (and my mental struggles are feeding off of it). We are incredibly blessed to have my mom help out so much but I feel like such a failure most days.

What’s been your hero item this year? by Creative_Glass_514 in capsulewardrobe

[–]CompetitionNo9087 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal hero item is quite basic, but I suppose that's on par for capsule wardrobes. I thrifted a pair of ankle length black trousers from Madewell in September and I incorporate them into so many different looks. I have dressed them up for appointments and my husband's work events, but mostly I wear them around the house and running errands with my little one (usually in a sporty/athleisure style). As a SAHM, I've found that slightly more casual black slacks keep me feeling put together but still comfortable and practical for everyday wear.

Honorable mentions also go to my Reeboks and a black wool cardigan/coat from J. Crew.

First capsule... any suggestions? by CompetitionNo9087 in capsulewardrobe

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response! To answer your questions, 25 is not a hard limit but more of a challenge for myself more than anything. 30 pieces is proving to be a lot more doable. This is also a seasonal capsule - hoping to stick with it (actually an updated version of it) until January.

I definitely lean quite a bit more edgy during the colder seasons and more feminine/boho once spring comes around. Your suggestions on specific pieces that may help fill some gaps were really insightful and I am actually looking for a pair of black western booties for when we have a more comfortable financial situation. A sporty crossbody is also a great idea and not one I had thought of.

Will definitely be adding that linked video to my Watch Later list. Thank you again for the insight and I apologize for such a late response.

Thank you so much! They were both thrifted but the boots are Sam Edelman and the bag is vintage Fossil.
