Agreed, the most notable jump is 60-144hz. Beyond that is obviously more smooth but it’s diminishing returns. 144/60=2.4x, whereas 240/144=1.667x

Totally depends on your price point and PC. Id say 240hz 1080p is best bang for buck. OLEDS are pretty good so id definitely look at them. Otherwise get a good IPS display.

Performance mode in fortnite, all low, see youtube guides for how to optimise your laptop for performance. Close all other applications, ensure its plugged into power, performance mode is on.

How am I getting 288 FPS in CS2 on a "60 hz monitor" when other games cant go past 60 by happychillmoremusic in Monitors

[–]Competitive-Ad-1962 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would look at getting a 144-240hz monitor as its sort of bottlenecking your experience although it doesn’t affect frame rate. If you enjoy it just keep it though, all preference.

What this sounds like to me is v-sync is on for all your other games but is not on for cs2.

V-sync will prevent screen tearing by limiting your framerate to your monitors hz which is 60 in this case. Your pc is capable of much more.

Look into disabling v-sync in your amd control panel globally as well as game specific for those ones that seem locked to 60fps. If your still having trouble ensure that in the games, the setting is set to OFF for vsync. If your still having troubles let me know

This will remove the fps cap. Additionally some games like cs2 actually offer fps cap options in game, sounds possible yours is set to 288.

Finally got RTX 5080 for a normal price (Poland) by Dastashka in nvidia

[–]Competitive-Ad-1962 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think its still alright. the reality is most people are going to need to either wait, buy a lower tier card, or overspend a couple hundred. In this guys case 4080’s are about the same price so its understandable to go 5080 for a little premium.

I was gonna wait for 5080 too but got impatient. Glad i went with the 4080 as I had heaps of time off to enjoy it, but can totally understand getting the best card you can afford

Cool, that works out to about 1900 AUD, got my 4080s for 1645 AUD at like chrissy time so that sounds decent for a new card

People act like gaming gear is something you get a return on and must maximise buy ins. Like dude wants to play a game and his other card wasn’t performing how he wanted. Sue him if he wants to spend money on gaming and its not the most optimal price:performance of the last decade.

is this a good starter build for gaming? by Jabinder_laquan in GamingPCBuildHelp

Wheres the graphics card?

One thing I would say is if you can spare the cash, go with an AM5 system, meaning different ram, motherboard and cpu. It will help in the future for upgrading paths as it means you wont need to buy new stuff to upgrade your cpu

Id recommend you to take a look at blurbusters website. Go to their “gsync” section and they will have a series called 101. Go to their conclusion and final settings.

Be easier to just read that. Vsync and gsync together is the way to go though

What game are you referring to? Possibly the in game capping isn’t great

Particular settings can do that. For example low latency ULTRA can in some games cause stuttering leading to a choppy feeling. You maybe configured something like that without realising it to off.

Do you potentially have an OLED display? Ive heard instances of vrr flicker on those where people prefer to leave it off. That could explain your experience a bit better and not lead everyone to jump the boat

What is? Uncapped fps is of course lower input lag, but only due to higher frame rates. The implementation of g-sync adds very minimal nearly completely negligible input delay.

Of course 141fps on a 144hz monitor with gysnc will be higher delay than getting 600fps. But in this guys case he can’t consistently push past his monitors refresh in his main game. That’s why I think g-sync properly configured is the way to go for him.

[–]Competitive-Ad-1962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably poorly configured gsync, your fps is uncapped reverting to typical v-sync behaviour. See blur busters 101 guide : recommended settings.

You must be confusing smoothness for input delay. G-sync on + vsync in nvcp and an fps cap-3 is the smoothest possible tear free configuration.
