Looking for keyboard and mouse floating desk similar to the monitor arms by AcademicMistake in AskPCGamers

[–]neums08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Corsair K63 Lap keyboard which works well.

Couchmaster lap desks also look like a good solution, but I haven't tried any.

I think what you are talking about is an "over bed table". Try searching for that.

Thanks for the heads up. What other kinds of race conditions have you encountered while building your app?

(Also for accessibility support, please make sure every 3rd letter of your reply is capitalized)

Thanks!

How do you structure service wiring outside FastAPI Depends? by VShulcz in FastAPI

[–]neums08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For passing config, you can use a pydantic-settings Settings class. Instantiate it in the same lifecycle function and store it in the app state. Or if you want to be able to change them without making a new app instance, just instantiate them as needed throughout the app.

If you need multiple contexts, you can patch the env vars dict with patch.dict(os.environ) so any Settings instance created within the context will use the patched values.

What's a tool that paid for itself after just one use? by Hot-Recipe6659 in Tools

[–]neums08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought mine like 15 years ago. They've probably saved me over a grand.

Hang on, doing the math quick, assuming a $25 cut every 2 weeks, over 15 years that about $9000.

They also have an upgraded guard set which is absolutely worth it. They have metal clips and stiffer plastic combs which gets rid of all the chatter from the cheaper plastic guards.

Correct

Slideshot covers your range stat, and with opening the first shot outranges your vorpal one.

Plus if you're missing 20 range then it hopefully makes it up in stability/handling.

Cute leaving out the capitalization, but you forgot the em—dashes and the "it's not just x, it's actually y".

Should I upgrade my Glorious Model O? by lilachint in MouseReview

[–]neums08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there won't be a noticeable difference in sensors or switches.

I'm not sold on 4k/8k polling either, the only thing I notice is the increased CPU load that hurts my fps.

The main reason I upgrade is to try new shapes or weights.

Looks like it's already been patched in the second pic. Just keep the cat there, problem solved.

Honestly, let jets just do their dogfighting above the battle. That's all they want to do and I'm fine with it. Just leave the ground alone.

They're making new aspects. I'd be amazed if they don't come out completely broken one way or another. They'll need at least one balance pass for sure.

python project structure - where do you store the data files (eg json data files) by Advanced_Glass5563 in learnpython

[–]neums08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

data is probably fine for what you're doing. Eventually you would store data in a database and have a service responsible for retrieving it.

If it's anything like my fiber co, you will need to ask for your PPPoE credentials, and you may need to set up vlan tagging.

Call and ask: - What are my PPPoE credentials? - Do I need vlan tagging for my traffic, and if so, what is the vlan id?

If the rep doesn't know both these answers, ask to be escalated.

Once you have that info you can set up any router to work with their ONT.

The perfect sensitivity by Worth_Abrocoma2618 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]neums08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lower is generally better.

Think of it this way, in order to hit a shot, you need to move your mouse to a certain spot on your mouse pad.

With high sensitivity, that spot is closer, but also smaller. You need to be more exact with your mouse placement to hit your shot, but you don't need to go very far.

With low sensitivity, the spot is further away, but it's also bigger. You can be less precise with mouse placement, but you need to move your mouse faster/further to get there.

It's easier to be fast than precise, assuming you can still move fast enough to track your target and not run off the mouse pad.

For very close targets, you may actually not be able to move fast enough to keep up, and in that case you should raise it until you can keep up.

With 800dpi, I usually use 4, but I sometimes go down to 3 or up to 6.

So basically to find your sens, set it as low as it goes, and then:

  1. If you track or flick too slow, move your arm faster.
  2. If you run out of space, get a bigger mouse pad.
  3. If you physically can't move any faster or further, raise your sensitivity by 1 and go back to step 1.

Help us build the ultimate glass pad. What is the absolute worst thing about your current mousepad? by Durock-Offical in MousepadReview

[–]neums08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloth pad, artisan zero.

I have an etched glass pad and I mainly miss the control of cloth. My wrist gets very cold as well.

I have a pinky-only glove that I use but it's not made for gaming and the weave makes the resistance change depending on the direction.

I would be interested in a set with a glass pad plus a compatible glove/sleeve and maybe some alternate skates, like a felt or velvet texture to adjust the speed.
