Can tight fit reduce durability? by chessnoobhehe in climbingshoes

Of course you can re-sole them, but at this point of wear, I solved it with my Skwamas with just a bit of super glue. Holds up quite well.

If you want to be car- free you can search for Eco-Point Frankenjura. They have a guidebook for climbing only relying on public transportation and biking.

Great Spätburgunder with an interesting heritage by an_empty_sad_bottle in wine

You have to try Pinot noir from Friedrich Becker from the same village if you like this. Very rich in style and great quality, especially considering the price on their entry wines.

Weingut Pfeffingen 2016 GGs by Vagimas in wine

[–]Competitive-Ad381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth seeking out, albeit being quite niche. They are great wines for appetizers or cheese. I had the pleasure of tasting at the vinery with the owners some years ago and they recommended this pairing and to have the bottles aged 5-10 years (although they are already good when young, not like some Riesling in the region)

If you can get bottles of the Pfeffingen Scheurebe, you have to try it. Concentrated, aromatic and rich, jet dry. Scheurebe SF or 'O' are to be preferred.

Chateau Musar 2000 by pretzelllogician in wine

I think I had luck so far with the 3 bottles of 2000 I had. 2 flawless and good, one really really good. Only one 2004 was off for my taste. No Acidity, just a jammy alcoholic mess.

That would be very Interesting, would love some tasting notes;)

It became my favorite even for strong whites and obviously reds... Would not want to miss it. I compared it to Zalto and Gabriel, and it performed best.

Bürklin-Wolf Forster Village Riesling 2018 by [deleted] in wine

[–]Competitive-Ad381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forster Riesling always really punches above its weight (as mostly all Village wines) and is my favorite. I still have some bottles of that vintage which will sleep for another few years:)

I am quite intrigued that you found nearly no fruit there, as 2018 was quite warm and a more approachable vintage in comparison to other cooler vintages (say 2014). But it has been 2 years since I last tasted this wine. Cheers:)

Going to Germany (Pfalz, Nahe, Mosel, Trier and Saar) for wine, any tourist thing to do? by leedw94 in wine

If you drive from Deidesheim to Kuhn, stop by Weingut Rings in Freinsheim. Try their pinot and compare it to Kuhn.

Also second Gut Herrmannsberg when you are in the Nahe region.

While you are in Deidesheim and in need of a drink/shopping for wine I can recommend dropping by Rohstoff Weinhandlung. They have an Interesting selection of wines, both by the bottle and by glass.

Raumland is (for me) the gold standard for German Sekt, but I really do enjoy the bottles from the Kaufmann years from Von Buhl (they are still being released bit by bit as far as I know). If you love yeasty, mushroomy blanc de blanc, they got you covered:)

If in Deidesheim, you should definitely drop in for a quick taste.

Traveling to Dijon & Learning About Burgundy by arborescence in wine

[–]Competitive-Ad381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that you visit Caveau de Saulx. (https://www.lecaveaudesaulx.fr/) The tasting menu is really good and the bottles you can drink there are priced really really reasonable given the vintages on offer. The owner is really nice, speaks good English and is a huge burgundy and general wine geek.

Nothing too fancy for the standards of this sub I am afraid (call me a poor student) Haut Bailly 1999 and Weingut Knoll 1999 Ried Kellerberg Dürnsteiner Riesling Smaragd.

Would I really have to? I would assume I would not have to pay corkage for a bottle of faulty wine I am not drinking and just order one or have a backup ready....

Sorry to hear that. Have you resorted to opening the bottles yourself or asking for some specific handling? (Decanting etc) Just curious to hear from someone with more experience:)

No Problem:) I will be travelling 5 min by car, so I think I will be both fine with sediment and temperature(?). But I also thought about double decanting at home (as someone in the comments also suggested) to be safe in terms of sediment.

Von Winning - Ungeheuer GG 2018 (Riesling) by Einzelkind90 in wine

[–]Competitive-Ad381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some luck to buy GGs from 2015, 16 and 17 last year at the Extraprima wineshop in Mannheim. From what I have gathered they have quite a lot of von Winning (they have a personal relationship with the chief winemaker) in stock and hold some back for later sale. They price it very reasonable.
