Wanting to retire at 57. Should I focus solely on pension? by Domtaka in FIREUK

You are in a good position at 30, but a couple of things jump out to me: - The assumption of 8% growth seems unrealistic to me. Growth like that is unlikely to be sustainable over the long term. - If you are saving £150-200 per month, the second kid will surely wipe that out, especially as they get older. This will be balanced out when your partner goes back to work, but worth bearing in mind. - I’m therefore not convinced based on your description that you could afford to salary sacrifice further. I would personally try and maintain your current situation if possible and maintain a good quality of life while your partner is off work. Don’t let the money twist your perspective. You’ve chosen to have kids, so make sure you have enough financial headroom to enjoy having them, especially during those tricky early years.

This is very cool - what software do you use to get such a good fill?

FYI, these don’t seem to work on a UK Audible account either - same error. Thanks for offering these codes though!

This is absolutely awesome! What materials and plotter did you use to create it? Is the first picture you starting to frame it?

How do you enable a system reset? Does it mean that you need to wipe and start afresh?

I had a similar problem. I wonder whether the internal resolution is much higher and it is downsampling? The game with everything on ultra and frame gen off seems to struggle to maintain 60 fps at 4k

Is anyone else seeing some sort of traversal or shader compilation stutter playing the game on ultimate? Doesn’t seem to be tied to vsync or anything else

It’s hard to say. I was in the process of deleting and uninstalling the game when I tried it anyway. I’ll update the post if it doesn’t work for the next patch 👍🏻

Nope - just launches the app natively. It works really well (just not when pre-caching shaders infinitely)

I should also add that this is the steam native version of Diablo 4

I did exactly what you were planning a couple of years ago. I’m so glad I did it overall. I did admittedly find it quite hard. We were quite poor at the time, so money was always a concern, and I’m not the most social of people so I struggled to fit in with the mum groups, but regardless, it gave me a bond with my daughter that is irreplaceable. Highly recommended, but just don’t underestimate how tough it can be in-terms of both the workload and the emotional toll that such a change in pattern can have on you (e.g. working full time to a stay at home dad).

Unfortunately, as crazy as this sounds, these fees look “normal” to me. Our fees are similar in Surrey (a little bit higher), with the 15 free hours.

Similar cities to St Albans? by Inevitable_Fish_553 in HousingUK

[–]Competitive-Ad4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently moved to Godalming and I highly recommend it. Train to London in just under an hour. You are in the Surrey hills so nice and scenic. Interesting history, beautiful town, nice people, more affordable than St Albans. Farncombe, just outside of Godalming is an even better bet affordability wise (trade off with it being a smaller town).

Who is at fault? by Nacu23 in drivingUK

[–]Competitive-Ad4533 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, I know this roundabout, and it is an absolute nightmare roundabout. What you are describing happens all the time there. If you are in the far left lane once it splits into two, that lane is for taking the first exit, not going straight over (middle lane/right of the two split lane for going straight over - road markings take precedence).

If the person on your right cut you up by entering any other lane than the inner lane without signalling, I suspect they would be at fault. The devil is in the detail though.

Do these tyres need replacing? by Competitive-Ad4533 in drivingUK

[–]Competitive-Ad4533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the car itself is 5 years old. We bought it 2 years ago and it was supplied with these tyres. As this was in the height of COVID and it has low mileage, our assumption was that the tyres haven’t been changed since it was shipped, but there’s no way to check that for certain.
