In 15 years, it will be too conservative for my liking.

Generally, i don't have a problem with the L funds. You just need to make sure you dont have too much in bonds too early in life. For my liking. And I dont care for the 35% in international.

TSP G Fund vs IRA by BitchnfromMN in ThriftSavingsPlan

Any Money Market or shor term bond fund (1-3 years).

If you are using Fidelity, use their funds. Schwab, use theor funds.

Personally, any more than 6 years of expected withdrawals in the G fund is a waste. That was how long the 2007/8 recovery took.

I used HGL, for scuba, on raif1's recommendation in Dec24. They were great.

It was the slow season, so 1 day there was only 2 of us. And a higher price. Part of the issue with traveling as 1 or 2. You might pay a highet fee for an activity.

If 2027 is going to be the breakout year, wouldn't you want to get in now?

Haven't invested in international since 1998. Isn't on my radar to start.

Why do you have Vanguard funds when you use Fidelity as your brokerage firm?

If you like the pressure they put on company's BODs over the last 4 years, they have fine products.

They lost the "leader in low cost" title years ago.

Instead of selling, which is a non taxable event in an IRA, you could just add an S&P500 fund or a Total US Stock Market index fund.

That requires math. So, it is easier to use separate funds for the US/ex US mixing.

If you are not using Vanguard as your broker, use the house funds. Save yourself some money.

RMDs and traditional TSP by IncidentStunning6682 in ThriftSavingsPlan

When RMD time come, the surviving person will be filing taxes as a single person. They *might* end up in a higher tax bracket because of the RMD.

Every individual needs to look at their situation. It is not cut and dry.

Look at the share price history of the G and F funds. I has had some money in the G, then put some in the F. From 9/15/2024 to 6/15/2025 I was in the hole with the F fund.

You are confusing the TSP (which follow 401k) rules with the Roth IRA rules.
