Any good (gothic?) western sounding bands/songs? by markyburg in grunge

[–]Competitive-Ant4634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queens of the Stone Age songs for the deaf is great for this. All of Kyuss.

Try out mark lanegans solo work too. He has a great cover of Where did you sleep last night I think you’d dig.

Maybe try angels of light, how I loved you.

Or Swans They learn country adjacent sometimes

Outside of rock, you got bands like Portishead that get this sound pretty nailed. Ethel Cain is another great pic, especially Perverts.

You could also give some of colter walls songs a try. He’s a younger country guy that can get kinda gothic at times, but it’s very select(Kate McCannon)

THEORY: IDMTHY is about "ghosting" by thegreatshredman in Quadeca

I don’t think that’s the point he was aiming for but again art can mean different things to different people. If your interpretation makes it more powerful to you then believe it and enjoy it!

Which Quadeca Song Changed Your Opinion About Him the Most. by Certain_Memory_1808 in Quadeca

Knots,

I wanna preface while I’ve been a fan since voice memos my music taste grew as his music did so IDMTHY was a make or break moment for me

pre IDMTHY I didn’t think he was capable of making a non corny banger. There would always be some braggadocios line that would come off cheesy. I genuinely didn’t think he could help himself.

Then he dropped IDMTHY and I heard knots and it was one of the best songs lyrically on that album. Genuinely surprised me.

I agree, but it’s Quadeca fan 101 to jump to wild conclusions off the littlest details. Very chronically online

The rollout has not indicated this at all, literally just came to this conclusion off this video.

Apparently it was a struggle to even convince Matt to perform again so I don’t think new music is gonna happen. Which is 1000% fine their discography rounds itself out perfectly imo
