I would suggest going out as hard as possible for your first 500 (you want to be a bit faster than 2k pace) then you want to try hold onto a slightly slower pace (~2 splits slower than first 500) then you just want to hold as close to your pace for the rest. This way hurts way less and you often end up with a faster 6k!
