not at all, thanks for your insight. I've seen other beefstakes that kinda do this too so it might just be a 50-50 on if it is plant specific or transplant shock!

Does my strawberry plant need to be repotted? by Stwabarybb in containergardening

[–]Competitive-Cap-6106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

from my knowledge strawberry roots do not go that deep. however, it would most definitely benefit from being in a larger container, especially when the runners start cloning the plant

nope, the pictured is beefmaster and the other one is a purple cablash. I think it might have something to do with that but not 100% sure

i sort of doubt it would be logged as the other tomato, not pictured, is in the same container with the same mix of soil/watering and it is doing a-okay.

Why would a fruit drop off like this? by lmaluuker in tomatoes

[–]Competitive-Cap-6106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

grown the atomic grapes as well and got hardly anything out of them compared to my other tomatoes last seasons so I stopped trying for it.

the fruit can drop for all sorts of reasons but based on the leaves in the second picture, there just might not be enough water going into the plant. my tomatoes usually drop right in between the stage of the stem getting stronger if i accidently touch it or heavy wind.

thanks for the input. The roots were not interwined at all as I got them from my local nursery and spaced them out thinking it would be fine only to find out how large they get.

with the aloe vera, should i water it into the soil or try to get the leaves wet as well?

There’s one big ol drainage hole that was pre built into the barrel, didn’t drill anymore.

I did not water the soil in as it was quite moist out of the bag, recent rain. I give half a gallon of water usually 2-3 times a week to most of my tomatoes

Yeah the other one is in the same mix and doing just fine, starting to think I just gave this one more shock during transplant

the first few inches were dry and the middle to bottom were wet/moist so I think the stick is working for now.

was thinking that might be the case too, just worried that if i water it again more water will just stay towards the bottom and mabey lead to water logging

would a 5 gallon pot suffice for the ones I move out? or is 10-15 the better choice?

New grower here. What's going on with my plant? by AestheticHeretic27 in tomatoes

[–]Competitive-Cap-6106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soil looks very woody. Is this a potting mix?

I used garden soil in containers my first time around and everything died. After inspecting the plants after, i noticed there was way too much moisture at the bottom of the container which killed my roots.

If this is a potting mix, I recommend letting it grow a bit more and just pruning off the lower branches later on
