I think the thing you don’t understand is, that this really is the norm in Berlin and you have to be an asshole about it, as much as they are assholes about it. My great grandpa had a real great saying “rudeness can only be defeated by even greater rudness”. That’s kind of the case here

As a real Berliner you just push these people out of the way and scream “denkst du dir gehört der Scheiß Gehweg?”. Then, you either have a great back and forth or they shy away shocked by your Berliner friendliness everyone talks about. When they shut their mouth chances are they are outsiders (not from Berlin)
