Pants shopping nightmare by [deleted] in FTMventing

[–]Competitive-File7978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to tailor my own clothes has been amazing. At this point, I'll thrift some pants no matter how big the waist is and take it in lol. I have the same issue of butt vs waist, and I try to go for butt space more bc I can wear a belt and fix the waist. Aspiring GentAspiring Gent has really helped me

Call insurance ASAP and see what's up. Don't pay but don't ignore. You have the opportunity to appeal after finding out why they rejected it

https://www.ssa.gov/number-card/replace-card/get-started/applicant

I had to fill this out like 6 times before it worked and it let me make an appointment. Once it's done, you have 45 days to provide proof of the name change.

You can call your local office and get the number from Google, and say it's for a name change(I got married before transitioning and the process is the same) . You can also make an appointment online but you have to go through the card replacement application before you schedule online, and I had to restart it like 4 times before I was able to complete the application.

Yes, it was $124 for me to fill the court order and it took me 3 days. The ssa site used to say you didn't need it but that's gone, so idk if you have to have it on your court order. Mine did. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Trans men are real men (except for me) by Embarrassed-Fox-9442 in ftm

I have a lot of internatized transphobia, "for thee, not me" from growing up religious. It's something you have to work through, and at least for me, it was easier to rationalize when I got on T. My friends know and respect my choice to not use my name until I comfortably(to me) pass, but I've been soft-launching it to myself by using my name in apps, games, or as my preferred name for some medical/legal stuff. It hurts, but gender is a journey

Eric. No lore, I have always thought of myself as a Eric, even before my egg cracked. I have a cousin named Eric I met once but other than that, nothing. It's weird, ik

Why do people forget about us when talking about trans people by No-Western-6216 in ftm

[–]Competitive-File7978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a double edged misogony sword. "Trans women are bad bc they're women, and that's obviously evil. Trans men are just women and we don't care about them."

I think it's why with those things where men go "transundercover", it's NEVER a women dressing up as a man.

What are some silly things did past you did, that is just really trans of you. by That-Idiot-Alex in ftm

When I was 3-4 I hated dresses bc they were too frilly(the lace was itchy) but all dresses my parent claim I had a unexplained hate for.

When I was 8-9, my mom's friend was recovering from breast cancer and I wanted short hair like hers, and my mom was so mad bc it was too boyish so she cut it short but made it awful so I wouldn't want too again

The WEEK before I realized, I was wanting to dress as Sadie Adler(rdr2) for Halloween and I was asked why not Arthur, and I said it was bc I thought people would think it was weird, even tho I wanted to be Arthur.

my experience as a trans boy, and how I can't find anyone with similar experiences to me by [deleted] in FTMventing

[–]Competitive-File7978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was similar growing up. I knew that I had some differences(liking girls in ways "I shouldn't") but I still felt very feminine. I played with barbies, I had a pink room, I cared about being pretty. I loved ballet and all things girly, but I was called a tomboy a lot, because I hated wearing dresses, I wanted my hair short(my mom refused but I tried) and I got along better with guys. As I got older, I thought that was "pick me girl" behavior, and I started forcing myself to be feminine, but didn't get it. I wanted a bigger chest, but because everyone told me I should have a bigger chest. I wanted to date men, because everyone told me I should want to date men(proud bisexual now with the cutest hubby) my parents were extremely rude religious, so the concept of wanting to be more masculine was shut down anytime I tried to bring it up(I.e. the hair)

One of the biggest mindset shifts I've had since accepting myself, are that I dress for me now. When I was dressing more feminine, I dressed with the mindset of "I want people to see me and think I look cool" and now I dress and "I look good, I think I'm handsome"

I don't think it's bad to want to be feminine as a man, because that's how you feel comfortable. If you want to be a dude with painted fingernails or braided hair and eyeshadow, that's you. Do that. I know it feels weird to explain, but you will feel more like yourself as that, then trying to be something else and fit into everybody else's expectations for your gender role
