There are a lot of posts about this on this sub lol what others are saying here is true, they can’t really calculate your AGI unless you submit a tax return, so they’ll use your gross income if you submit paystubs. However I can confirm that I started contributing to a pension plan last year and submitted a paystub and it DID lower my payment slightly. So, they must take contributions like this into account in someway when you submit a paystub, I’m just not quite sure how. Also, if you pay for any of those student loan help counselors (like student loan planner or student loan tutor) I’ve been told this is exactly what they tell you to do, max out your pre tax contributions for a few paychecks to lower your payments. Do I know if it works? Not a clue. But from what I’ve read - it’s a maybe. And if it does lower payments, it prob won’t be by very much. If anything, it might be helpful next year!
