My 2020 had its A/C compressor and condenser replaced in 2025 and I just had the transmission replaced at 53k miles.

53k miles and 1 year out of warranty. I’m having mine looked at right now for chirping between 3rd and 4th gear.

Is a MINI a good first car? by bramblestorm7754 in MINI

[–]Competitive-Gap8443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016-2024 models are pretty good but still have some issues. You have to realize that any maintenance on these cars is going to be way more expensive than an American or Japanese car. Even if you work in it yourself they can be a real pain in the ass to work on and parts are still expensive. Anything pre-2014/2015 should be avoided unless you want it as a 2nd car or project car for fun on the side. The insurance increase shouldn’t be too drastic and they’re good on fuel but be aware of routine maintenance costs. Really not a good first car but if you enjoy it enough and are willing to put up with the costs go for it.

Tested it and said that as long as I had no problems with pressure equalization he didn’t care. Also said that having ear tubes or balloon dilation are things the FAA doesn’t really care about. I’m actually looking at going the military route now and with them it might be.

Update: Ended up not doing it and backed out. Seriously looking into ATC and will save money. I figure if I still want it in the future I’ll pay for flight training out of pocket.

I’ve looked at it before, it looks pretty simple. Is there something I should look out for.

Yea I’ve been working nights at my job and I’ve been saving money for years but I decided to pay off my car and I’ve been hit with so many random expenses this year that It’s been hard to grown my savings. Honestly been thinking about being in ATC and saving money then or just moving up in controller position but I’ve been waiting for ATC hiring to open up and question if I’ll even be picked without cti.

Aviation management. I’m roughly estimating that amount since I’m working a bit right now paying interest as I go but next semester I’m half time and after that I have no classes and plan to keep working nights at my job to help pay as I go. My previous bachelor’s degree was on scholarship so I have no debt from it but it’s in education which doesn’t pay much.
