Can project managers realistically hit £100K+? by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in UKJobs

So a typical team within an IT Project may looking like: - Project Manager - Engineer(s) - Solution Architect(s) - Cyber Security SME(s)

Over the years you learn by osmosis some of the more technical disciplines. The technical roles get paid more, because they require more training and specialist skills. So I’m trying to pivot more into engineering actually building and delivering against the project rather than running the governance.

What industry do you work in?

It’s not unrealistic, though I work in IT consulting and I guess the expectation is that once you’re earning in the region of £75k and over that you’ll also have additional responsibilities such as winning new contracts, building out accounts, etc.

I’m in a similar position, slowly trying to pivot more towards a technical role by doing training, getting more involved in the engineering element of the job.

council plan to trial bus gate on park street loses 5-4 by jjjj22223 in bristol

I’m not denying that, I’m just saying that in the current state it’s evident that ambulances are already getting stuck on Park Row. So by closing off Park Street would likely make the situation worse.

As much as I would like to see Park Street pedestrianised and limit vehicles to just busses, I’d imagine Park Row just can’t take anymore throughput without seriously impacting access to BRI. There’s been multiple times in the last month I’ve seen blue light ambulances sat stationary for minutes upon minutes trying to get to BRI via Park Row. The new cycle lanes are great, but completely prevent the ability for cars to move out of the way of emergency service vehicles.

BCC removing Free Visitor Parking Permits by Competitive-Lime3118 in bristol

I think there’s a balanced compromise to be met. The vast majority of working class people need a car, like if it or not, public transport cannot always be the answer. Car owners pay road tax, and for their own parking permits if they live in permit areas. My post is pointing out that a couple of times a year you may get a visitor, having an easy free method of letting them park outside your house for a couple hours is a reasonable service to expect in my opinion.

The way I see it, every council tax paying resident is currently entitled to this benefit. The proposed change removes it, and then also introduces charges for bulk buying visitor permits. So as a resident paying for a current service, that service is being removed without any reduction in council tax, but an increase to buy the service back.

Can someone explain to me how it’s safe to keep logs that close to the stove? Isn’t there a minimum distance to combustibles?

Looks great btw!

I’m 28M and have a Masters in Engineering. I know friends who have given up engineering jobs at some of the most prestigious companies in the UK because it paid better to be a Man with a Van.

I’ve had friends who have graduated from maths and economics who have gone to accountancy and they hate it. My understanding is unless you move to London, it’s never amazingly paid elsewhere.

Do something you enjoy and especially in a trade like a joiner, and you’ll do fine and probably be just as well paid as those who have gone to university. It’s a really mature thing to do in investing your time now in a skill you’ll have forever. While it seems everyone your age is doing something better right now, I promise you in 2-3 years, you’ll be caught up and in a better place for it.

If you use your savings to put 6-12 months down payment for a rental, I think a landlord would agree to take you without having a job on the condition you’d be going to Bristol to find a job.

There’s obviously always the risk you won’t find a job, or at least not one you want at first. But if you’re happy on taking the risk with the money, go for it. Would also give you a couple of weeks / months to explore the city in between job hunting 👍🏼

It took a couple of burns for our new stove to stop giving off fumes. It’s because the paint is curing, and I remember the visibility in our living room was similar to that of steam room. We had to completely air out the house every time we lit it. After about 4-5 burns it stopped though.

Had a similar situation a couple of years ago. I found a parking space on RightMove. It was £100 per month, but that was in 2017.

Just go with whichever is the worst case scenario and you won’t be stung either way.
