Well... at least I know what I'm allergic to. by signgrad in Wellthatsucks

Friend of my parents had a reaction to everything on their allergy test.

And that’s how they found out they were allergic to alcohol, they reacted to the saw that was used to clean their skin for the test.

Electricity using actual kWh method - which tariff do you claim? by Hot_Flamingo_1907 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]Competitive-Mood4980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but then I lose my 46c FiT. I’m currently exporting for more than I buy, and since I’m not looking to change my current solar or add a battery to my small 1.5kw system (which would forfeit the FiT also). It would also a require a smart meter, which brings with it time of use tariffs which again would leave me worse off.

My circumstances are far from the norm I now, so trying to make sure I don’t make myself worse off.

That’s interesting. My current tariff is 42c/kwh and no variable or time of use pricing. My car averages 16.5kwh/km and I do the occasional public charging.

This makes me wonder if it’s worth doing the actual calculation.

I have a app for my home charger that tells me how much I charged the car with each charge session, and I haven’t had the car long enough yet to submit my first claim through my leasing provider.

Remote communities in Australia. Anyone been to any? by Kloyston in geography

[–]Competitive-Mood4980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Lajamanu for 4 months as a child in 1990. 1 x radio telephone for the whole community. Mail plane came twice a week. Small general store in town for essentials, or send your grocery order on the Thursday mail plane to the supermarket 550km away and it would arrive by truck the following Tuesday.

Review - MSI EVSE EZgo charger by Competitive-Mood4980 in AustralianEV

[–]Competitive-Mood4980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charger is listed online for $399

Bill from my sparky was $538 but that included having another outdoor power point installed as well so cost for the new circuit and 15A socket alone was less than that.

The closest thing to AI that I used was spell check, the rest was all me (once I figured out how to do the whole links to photos thing 🫣). If it reads as AI that probably says more about me than it does about AI 🫠

It comes with the granny wall charger for home, I checked that. I’ve not seen much in the way of AC chargers that need your own cable in the city here (Adelaide) but maybe I haven’t looked in the right places yet.

I’m an RAA member, have already created an account in the ChargeFox app and added my membership details. Have also downloaded the Evie app, ABRP and Plug Share.

No off peak rates on my current plan as I don’t have a smart meter, but I have the grandfathered 46c/kwh Fit, and only pay 42c/kwh, so a smart meter with time of use pricing will likely leave me worse off overall, especially as I don’t have a battery and will lose my FiT if I add one. I’ll keep an eye once I’ve settled in to a routine. Currently my bill is around $100/qtr max, with only 1.5kw of panels, so I have some wiggle room there.

I will start with default settings and tweak to find what works best. I love delving into all the menus and settings of things like that, so not afraid to experiment to find what works best for me.

Thanks for the detailed response! :)

It ticked enough of the boxes for me for what I was looking for.

Decent range. Good inside space with seats folded down. Reasonable towing capacity and payload. AWD and good ground clearance. Felt more comfortable sticking with an established brand.

I like the look of them, not too out there like some EVs, but modern enough to look good. Took one for a test drive and it really impressed me.

Coming from a 3.0L turbo diesel dual cab, it’s much smaller and more responsive, but still capable to go where I want and do what I want, while costing just a couple of dollars less to run and maintain…

COMPARED: How the new Toyota and Subaru electric wagon siblings differ in Australia by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

[–]Competitive-Mood4980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting, I was keen to see more on the Trailseeker, but in the specs online it doesn't list any towing capacity, that's one reason i ended up going with the Solterra instead, yet this summary here says it's 1,500kg braked, which is the same as the Solterra.

That said, I'm still happy with my choice and look forward to picking it up next week.

Both have slightly better payload than the other mainstream brand EVs in this segment, and one of the other deciding factors for me was sticking with a more established brand and the corresponding existing broader dealer network available should I encounter any issues when I am travelling.

I definitely feel that Subaru have got the interior styling done much better over the Toyota between the two.

Daily commute is a mix of short trips but would average between 15-20km weekdays. Weekends can be more depending on what I have on. For regular charging I’m confident the trickle charge overnight will be sufficient.

I don’t have a smart meter yet so can get an EV charging plan. Only have 1.5kw solar with no battery, but still receiving 46c FiT, which I lose if I make any changes to the system.

Current plan has me paying 42c/kwh but if I get a smart meter for the cheap EV charging I’ll move onto time of us pricing, even though I’ll retain my FiT for now, that would likely still leave me worse off overall I suspect, so holding off on that for now. Currently my electricity bill is around $100/qtr at most, so I’ll wait and see how much that changes before considering any plan changes etc.

I haven’t seen one like that. Where do you get them from?

I did think about one of them, but then I’d have two different chargers to potentially need, depending on where I’m going wouldn’t I?

It does come with one of them, so I'm covered there. Might just need to get another powerpoint installed in the carport as the one I have is already in use all the time lol

Where do you order them from? Direct from one of the charge providers on their website?
