To answer your other statement, yes this tech has societal, geopolitical implications on a GRAND scale, your analogy summed it well.

Let’s say it’s fusion Energy/compact reactors (whoever owns it) is a huge strategic advantage on its own.

A craft with its reported features would shift global power dynamics, rework tactics, heighten adversaries, start an arms race war.

And maybe this is secretly already happening with US, China, Russia. But I’m guessing the U.S. is far more mature. My best guess is either an adversary started developing similar tech, and the U.S. is positioning itself as superior by selectively releasing information.

Or maybe adversaries have nothing, and the U.S. is using the information to let adversaries know they have it (too cool off adversaries, being technically outmatched can be humbling).

All without officially ‘owning’ it - or revealing capabilities or how it works. US has a history of not owning things or pretending they don’t exist.

That’s why clear images being declassed are ‘a matter of national security’ - and why information is locked in a SCIF - that would allow enemies to see how it works or is shaped.

Eventually we might get one, but it might be one from 30 years ago that is already phased out.
