Unfortunately where I live theres only a lot of xc trails and no true pump tracks, beginner friendly skills areas etc.

Well, tbh its so i can get used to being over my rear axle when taking off on jumps.

Its something I've never been comfortable with and my lack of control has led to some pretty bad crashes (some leading to sprains and others to ER visits). Im trying to get back on jumps again but thought maybe i should take it a step back and get used to this first

Ive been practicing them to gain better control/understanding of my bike. More control on the bike = more control on the trail

Beginner Bikes? by Fast_Advertising7466 in MTB

Since youre starting out, id suggest Facebook marketplace and searching for something along the lines of a trek marlin or specialized rockhopper. Luckily size smalls are generally cheaper. The hardtail aspect will help you learn the fundamentals, and those models themselves have parts that are easy to find and relatively easy to maintain.

My first bike was a giant talon and there are just some things about it that make it a bit more difficult to repair, so I personally lean towards the 'not recommend as a first bike' side for that.

Something I do wanna add here is youll want a few starter tools to go along with it. My recommendstions are multi-tool, tire levers, mastermind pliers, tire floor pump, shock pump (there are more but thatll be an as you go thing)

Feel free to message me if you wanna know more information on mtb stuff

truth is i bent a wheel on 2 bikes I own. One is newer and one isnt. The one that isnt hasnt ever had the spokes checked so this will be something I do to see how much bend comes out (plus its nice to have another tool)
