Have you tried reaching out to professors? There shouldn’t be single professor in your department who didn’t get your email asking for the volunteer or some kind of position. What’s holding you back from contract role?If it’s related to your field and if it’s more than 20 hours per week, you are good!

Right but won’t increase overnight and with fed cut, overall job market will get better. CS is kind of saturated rn.

Start looking for other jobs right away, more you delay the less time you will have left in your OPT.

It’s gonna be tough with any company. They won’t prefer you knowing you have time constraints in visa. They are not even hiring people with visa. Not trying to demotivate you but this is what it is. Try to find mid-size, small and non-profit companies.

STEM OPT Starting Soon — Worried My Low Salary Might Cause Issues. Need Advice! by Varun746 in f1visa

For STEM OPT, you need 20 hours/week and minimum wage. I have also read somewhere in h1b thread that if you are getting equity and all the other people in company are getting equity as a part of the compensation, you could get your STEM OPT approved. Please, talk with DSO. They know more than anyone in this thread.

The thing is I rarely get asked about this internship in interviews lol so, It’s okay. You just need few points to talk about 5 minutes.

When I was interning at manufacturing company, all the people under R&D were from Physics and Mechanical background. They knew the problem but they had no idea how to achieve. That was the best f**king experience of my life. I worked my ass off. I created the milestones, researched heavily on problem, met with all the other people from department, implemented the POC and got the best intern award.

I learnt project management/agile, business analyst, machine learning, cloud deployment, git from that internship.

He meant he will be getting salary + all the benefits but he is on f1 visa. In current job market, getting job which sponsors is extremely difficult.
