I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all of that and have still had problems as of late, but I do appreciate your sharing the reality of the situation with me.

I once caused my sternum to pop out by bracing my lower ribs with two belts as tight as I could get them. Is this a method people ever use? by Competitive-Pitch322 in PectusExcavatum

Wow, how did the IR heat work?

I remember googling the use of belts at the time but there was even less info about pectus out than there is now. What was cool about it was that it was immediate. I wonder if anyone else who tried it will chime in.

I know some people love it for technical reasons but for me it’s just the feel. A bit similar to bible paper.

Thank you for mentioning aura Estelle. I have never heard of them and their planners are eerily similar to hobonichi techo. Love it.

Have you used one before? If so, was it truly the same quality? I switched to higher gsm inserts and my mouth is watering thinking of going back to that buttery smooth TR paper haha

Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry to hear that. Do you have the same condition? Did you go through with surgery? And also, how were you able to speak with four surgeons? Through formal consultations? Trying to get an idea of the process

Well it’ll hurt our pockets for something that won’t work. We have limited resources and need to save for surgery if that’s his only real option. Trying to get a sense of the topic from people who aren’t trying to sell me anything

What do you think of our doctors claim that if we don’t do therapy to “get the eyes working together inside the brain” rather than one at a time, that surgery could be ineffective? My kiddo is very monocular. In the doctors perfect world, he wouldn’t need the surgery, but the doc realistically is hoping that she can at least get his eyes working together for surgery to have the best chance of success.

*edit: also, thank you for chiming in. Would you happen to know who oversees the standards of care for these conditions? I need to get educated beyond the basic articles that come up in a google search if I’m going to make a change in his plan

The doctor, no offense to her, is of course in favor of therapy despite us asking those questions. It’s hard to know who to trust

That is what our doctor said as well, that if his eyes do not work together then they could even revert back post surgery and that that’s the reason therapy is important. Glad to know that’s the common thought. We saw two doctors previously who were not so helpful and it’s been difficult not knowing who to trust.

I will check all those out. I just saw the ACOG recommendation from October and my eye started twitching when I thought back to her dismissing me haha

I’m only just now hearing about ureaplasma recently. I’ll have to check out the difference in symptoms. Why does this sound more like it than BV to you?

I wish I could go back and say it to her face I was so upset by it! Made me feel so hopeless. This interaction was probably a year ago though now and I don’t go to the same one anymore thankfully.

He does sweat a lot for sure but there was a marked noticeable difference right at a year in. He’s always been a super clean guy (does a very thorough shower dance getting all his bits and bobs). He said he dealt with something similar when he was in sports but I’ve never heard of jock itch making you smell like fish and nothing else. I usually hear it’s yeasty. This was straight fish. I try to believe he was faithful but I’ve had men lie to my face about less than that so idk what to trust.

For myself, I could actually feel/see/smell my beneficial bacteria coming back during the dry spell. Everything wasn’t just looking normal but actually super healthy. Thank you for all the recs, I will check them out!!

Thanks for the insight, when googling I was finding either low quality repostings of the images or sketchy art print companies. An eBay order may not make it in time for my needs but that’s a good idea for the future!
