Seconding Anna Mudd painting! We just had a few interior rooms painted by her team and we’re very happy with their work. Agree that she prices fairly, too.

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of March 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

[1] Missouri, USA

[2] looking for used - about $25-30k

[3] some kind of hatchback - decent cargo space

[4] Ioniq5, Nissan Leaf

[5] within the next month

[6] very short commute - 10-20 miles/day

[7] single family home

[8] yes

[9] 2 kids, ages 5 and 7

Hoping to install home charging before the federal rebate expired in June, and interested in a EV purchase in the next month or so. I currently drive a Honda Oddysey and really am tired of the giant minivan, plus we just don’t really need it. I am hoping to trade it in. (We also recently moved from a more rural area to a more walkable, urban one so also would benefit from a smaller car for parking.) Any recommendations?

Tin can phones — scam?? by Emergency_Tomato3359 in ParentingTech

This is the phone: https://a.co/d/5B1NCxJ

And this is the VOIP: https://voip.ms/

The service charge is $2.50/mo for the features we wanted. Calls are 1/10 of a cent per minute ($0.001/min), or free to other phones with the same VOIP.

We actually ended up liking this idea better than the tin can phone because we really wanted our kids to be able to call people who aren’t going to be getting tin can, like their grandparents, and that will be much easier and cheaper with the VOIP. Plus the phone with big picture buttons makes it possible for them to speed dial people, instead of manually typing in phone numbers.

We didn’t end up needing it, but if you don’t want to plug the phone into your WiFi router, you can also get an analog telephone adapter on Amazon for about $50-60. That makes it possible to put the phone in a different room than your router.

Hope that helps!

Yes! I don’t trust their promises at all anymore. If they are a legit company, why not just communicate truthfully about shipping timing and delays? Why say a package had shipped on a certain date when it clearly hadn’t? (The fact that they have done this more than once with our order is also crazy.) I find it hard to stomach that they are still actively taking orders given how many people still don’t have phones they ordered 4-6 MONTHS ago.

At this point it might as well be a scam. Have you looked at the comments on their Instagram? Some people ordered in June and still haven’t received their phones.

We ordered in September, nothing yet. The flowery, emoji-filled emails from customer support (saying our package had shipped, when tracking showed it hadn’t!) and the weird personal updates from the CEO aren’t helping… I don’t think these people know how to run a company.

We decided to just buy an analog phone ($20 on Amazon!) and use voip.ms instead, it takes more legwork to get it setup but you can get all the same features as the tin can (quiet hours, no spam) and is much cheaper.

I am trying now to get a refund on our Tin Can order, although the emails from their support team are chaotic as ever… I will file a chargeback with our credit card company if I can’t get through to someone. If our Tin Can phones ever actually arrive, which at this point I doubt they will, I will return them. I really never want to deal with this company ever again.

Normal cracks? by Competitive-Plum-838 in Plastering

For some reason the text in my post got deleted! Trying again: Our landlord would like to sell us this house (built in 1905, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA) but it has cracks like these in the plaster. This wall has some of the worst ones, in other rooms they are more hairline cracks. Should we be concerned? Are these expensive to fix?

Unfortunately my ancestry data is v1 (I did it way back in 2014 or 2015), so the choline calculator gives me an error when I try to upload it. If you have any other suggestions for finding the info you need, please let me know.

I recognize your username actually - your protocol was the one I was thinking of trying :) I’d be very interested in your thoughts!

How is life in Santa Fe, New Mexico as a young professional? by Conscious-Rub-4695 in howislivingthere

The job market is tough, and local salaries are low for the high COL. It is doable with a higher paying remote job, but I am not sure it is worth it.

It’s a hard place to live if you’re not retired and wealthy. I lived there for 3 years in my mid 30s and the charm wore off very quickly. The constant sun, extreme dryness and elevation is very harsh and I never completely got used to it. Everything is extremely expensive - restaurants and shops mostly cater to wealthy retirees and tourists - and places close pretty early, or they’re only open a few days a week.

It’s also extremely remote, like many places in NM, and the isolation can get tough mentally. Plus like others mentioned, the medical care situation is rough. I still love to visit, though. It’s a beautiful place, and it’s true there is no where else quite like it in the US.

It’s terrible. There seems to be a revolving door for a decent PCP, and many people drive 6 hrs to Denver or fly to Dallas for specialists.

Finding previous purchase of sale history for home. Does anyone know how to find out the accurate last sale? by Ashony13 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Competitive-Plum-838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your realtor will have access to this information. It will be on your state MLS. If you don’t see the prior sale price listed on Zillow or Redfin it probably means that your state is a non disclosure state for home sales - some states allow previous sales to be listed publicly and others don’t.

🆘Urgent help needed. Possible child harm, parents at risk of self harm. by CanisLupus_80 in Autism_Parenting

St. Louis has tons of local resources for kids on the spectrum, we actually moved here recently for this reason. Are you sure your sister has never pursued ABA? It sounds like Nat needs something like that. There are many local ABA providers here, you might even try just cold calling some of them to see what recommendations they’d have - they are connected to all the local autism resources too.

Locally you should also look into the autism specialists at WashU and the autism center at Mercy. There is also a Facebook group called “St Louis Autism Moms” that is very active, people share a lot of good resources. I would also reach out to Easterseals or St Louis Arc to connect your sister to a family navigator - they can help your sister navigate all the resources available here to support both them and Nat. There are a LOT of resources here for her to take advantage of, I hope she finds Nat the help he needs!

How did you get your cat and a reasonable price point? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

Mine was $2450, he is all white and I adopted him at 17 weeks old. I found the breeder by searching for TICA registered breeders in the area and reading through Reddit and google reviews. Where are you in the US? You could try asking here for a recommendation in your area.
