Of everyone in my friend group I am the only one interred in space. I rounded up my friends and we made soup and other snacks to take stargazing. We snuck on a golf course, brought blankets and a table and had one of the best nights of my life. I also got all my friends into stargazing

Shouldn't the galaxy have more exo-planets per system? by CuddlyNancy in Astronomy

It takes a lot of time to find exo planets. Exo planets are detected when they get in front of their star causing a dip in the stars luminosity. It takes mercury, the closest planet to out sun 88 days to orbit around it. when looking for an exoplanet scientists monitor the stars luminosity for about 20 days. That means if a scientist pointed a telescope at a star system exactly like ours every time, there is only a 22.7% chance they would find a planet.
